This morning, I once again stopped by Telemundo NY’s “Acceso Total” — this time to talk about some of the fashion trends we’ve been seeing on the red carpet and what we might expect to encounter at this year’s Latin Billboard Awards.
John Updike once wrote, “What art offers is space — a certain breathing room for the spirit.” In these modern times, the mediums through which to explore art, to unleash one’s creativity through the creation of this meditational space, are seemingly limitless, with options ranging from canvas, posters, stickers, murals, ceramics, vinyl toys, comic books, computer and mobile phone screens, stained glass windows, billboards — and, of course, fashion apparel and accessories.
Earlier today, I stopped by Telemundo NY’s “Acceso Total” show to celebrate Earth Day by showcasing an assortment of eco-friendly beauty products — from cosmetics to skincare regimens, shower gels, body lotions, deodorants, fragrances, and haircare products.
Take a journey through the American film cannon or explore TV fashion history and you’ll find that, for decades, the unimposing, streamlined, sporty but minimalist design of Keds slip-on and lace-up sneakers has been considered a crowning example of laid-back all-American style — which is why it was the footwear of choice for Audrey Hepburn in Two for the Road, Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing, Tiffani Thiessen in Saved by the Bell, and Alyssa Milano in Who’s The Boss (to name but a few examples).
