The Wild Wild West galloped onto runways for Fall/Winter 2015, with Gucci, Tom Ford, M Missoni, Valentino and Tory Burch all toying with cowgirl-inspired pieces ranging from playful denim shirt dresses and fringe leather and suede jackets to saddle bags, cowboy boots, and rugged jewelry pieces fashioned with leather, rope, and concho shells.
Forget about that’s behind the velvet rope; this season, it’s all about the rope itself — or, rather, the dense, luxurious, decadently soft fabric wrapped around it.
How often do our purchases serve a purpose beyond our own enjoyment and satisfaction?
For years, brooches and pins were dismissed as old-fashioned accessories that functioned as a highway to either Dowdy Town or, alternatively, to Tasteless City, the latter thanks to a plethora of tacky Christmas-themed fare (think of sparkly wreath- and bell-shaped numbers).
