Though there’s an entire category for light-hearted, feel-good, fun-loving books that capture the carefree vibe of the summer season — otherwise known as “beach reads” — autumn is actually my favorite time of year for curling up on the couch or sipping a cup of tea while reading a gripping and engrossing book. Whether you’re on your living room couch or at a local café, you can pore over those pages in style with Warby Parker’s gorgeous selection of eyeglasses.

I had the chance to take a few of their optical frames for a spin last week thanks to their clever and oh-so-useful Home Try-On Program, which allows customers to pick up to five frames (optical glasses or sunglasses) and have them sent to their home or residence, where they can try them on for a 5-day period— all free of charge. Once the 5-day trial period is over, customers can send back the sample frames using a pre-paid label and visit WarbyParker.com to purchase those frames they liked best, equipping them with the proper prescription lenses. Two of the frames were a hit with me: the Warby Parker Beckett Frames in Saddle Sage (which start at $95 for a single-vision prescription and are available at WarbyParker.com) and the Warby Parker Simone Frames in Blue Coral (which also start at $95 for a single-vision prescription and are available at WarbyParker.com).

In the photos above, I’m wearing the Beckett Frames, which you can see close-up here:

I adore the two-toned color scheme of the glasses because it perfectly captures the transient nature of the autumn season, how leaves begin to change colors and fall off tree branches. The sage green in the bottom seems to nod to summer and spring while the amber-y brown along the top  nods firmly positions us in the autumn season, the transition between the two hues almost poetic in its ode to nature.

I often shy away from wearing my glasses outdoors — despite the fact that I’m a veritable Mrs. Magoo, and I desperately need them — because it frustrates me when my go-to frames seem to detract from my outfit. It’s an admittedly superficial reason, but it’s nevertheless one of my gripes. That said, when I wore the Warby Parker Beckett eyeglasses to brunch with friends over the weekend, I felt that the frames actually enhanced my outfit! While walking through the streets of New York in a long-sleeved turtleneck dress, a BCBGMAXAZRIA trench coat, knee-high brown suede Sergio Rossi boots, and Kendra Scott earrings, I felt like my look was all the more complete thanks to the glasses. They’re the perfect eyeglasses for a Sunday brunch, for reading a book at a café or at home (which I did later that day!), for visiting museums and attending art exhibits.

Another great choice of eyeglass frames from Warby Parker is the Simone in Blue Coral (available at WarbyParker.com), which I’m wearing in the photos below:

I wore these shades last Friday while running from one meeting to the next, and I loved how they tied my professional but modern look together. I’ve been smitten with bow blouses lately, which are a huge trend this season, so I wore one with a Mossimo watercolor print (purchased at Target!) and paired it with gray slacks from New York & Co. and a hooded Robert Rodriguez coat with a cinched waist and a flared skirt, along with oversize teardrop-shaped stud earrings from Bing Bang NYC. The Simone frames meshed  brilliantly with the colors of my blouse and echoed its dreamy and artful mood.

Here’s a close-up of the frames:

As you can see, the frames have an almost tortoise shell-esque print, but it combines the serene blue we might associate with spring or summer with a darker, earthier, moodier brown tone that’s reminiscent of wood burning in a fireplace, creating the perfect ambiance on a cold wintry night. These are office-ready frames, but they’re way more chic than your standard monotone glasses. They say to the world that you’re a unique and creative powerhouse. They have authority. I love wearing these with a sleek ponytail — preferably one with a deep side part — so as to create that balance between modern and classic, playful and professional.

Here’s another shot of me wearing the Simone glasses, so you can get a better idea for how they look on my face:

Of course, reading plenty of books, going to work meetings, and sipping pumpkin-flavored lattes are just some of the “to-dos” on my #FallSyllabus, which also includes visiting a pumpkin patch, going apple picking, and visiting some hiking trails in the area to admire the changing foliage. But one thing is for sure: if I’ve got the right Warby Parker eyeglasses, not only will I see clearly during these moments, but I’ll look stylish and , in turn, feel even more confident.
