Graphic Florals and Funky Pearls — What I Wore On Telemundo NY’s “Acceso Total”
Happy first day of spring!
Happy first day of spring!
Last night’s Academy Awards were a mixed bag.
On Monday, I stopped by Telemundo’s “Acceso Total” show to chat about one of the most playful fashion trends for Spring 2015: fringe!
Monday may have been the coldest day of the year, but I tried my hardest to bring some heat to Telemundo 47’s “Acceso Total,” where I discussed one of the prevalent fashion trends for the upcoming Spring 2015 season: fringe!
Gothic looks have been dominating the runways for Fall 2015, with Thomas Browne staging a faux funeral in lieu of a traditional catwalk show, Alexander Wang sending out a veritable Army of Darkness donned in pieces influences by heavy metal icons, and Nicholas K showcasing an eerie but fascinating collection inspired by 1920s horror films.
Once temperatures dip to the single digits, it feels impossible to look fashionable while also staying warm — especially given the amount of layers necessary to withstand the frigid air outside.
In recent years, we’ve seen a plethora of envelope-shaped clutches, boxy totes, rectangular leather satchels, and trapeze-shaped purses, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen handbags with perfectly round silhouettes.
The red carpet at the Grammy Awards has a reputation for welcoming everything from over-the-top flashy and theatrical looks (as in 2010, when Gaga donned a yellow wig and a dress with hula hoop-like orbs circling the bodice, or in 1980, when Grace Jones donned an umbrella-shaped hat) to bafflingly eccentric ensembles(Bjork’s swan dress comes to mind), piquant and provocative get-ups (think of the plunging green Versace number Jennifer Lopez wore in 2000), outfits so funky and glittery they border on gawdy, and a fair share of glamorous gowns with unconventional details.
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day (a February 13th festivity invented by Parks and Recreation’s Leslie Knope that involves lady friends celebrating one another and having a “Lilith Fair minus the angst” amount of fun), the sentiments behind your holiday of choice should be affection, respect, gratitude, and joy.
Love may conquer all, but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to forget (or ignore) Valentine’s Day when you’re in some form of a relationship — whether it’s a new development that’s still in its nascent stages, a long-distance arrangement, a live-in partnership, or a marriage.
