Yesterday morning, I had the immense pleasure of appearing on Telemundo NY’s 6-month old morning show “Buenos Días Nueva York” to discuss spring footwear trends and, of course, show off some styles every woman will likely covet.
Yesterday, I appeared again on Telemundo’s “Mujer de Hoy” segment — this time to discuss street style trends in New York City and, more importantly, how to turn heads while strutting down the Big Apple’s longest runways: its crowded sidewalks.
I’m not always the timeliest of people — for instance, I just mailed my father his Christmas present last week, which speaks to the ludicrous “island style” time table by which we operate in my family (side note: he’s been known to send birthday presents a month after the date has elapsed, so one could argue that I got it from him!).
One of the most pervasive beauty trends identified during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 has been the abundance of bold, smoky, somewhat cat-shaped eyes in deep shades of indigo blue, cobalt, and violet.
The makeup, hair, and nail looks created for the Creatures of the Wind Fall 2013 show, which took place earlier today at Eyebeam Studios in New York City, touched upon the many concepts that informed the collection – from the references to the bold colors and dynamic street art that typified 1980s youth culture to the Pop Art-influenced, kitschy, and colorful furniture pieces designed by Italian design and architecture group Memphis Group.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of filming a new beauty segment for Telemundo’s “Mujer de Hoy,” this time focusing on makeup looks inspired by Disney princesses and on cosmetic sets that nod to classic fairy tales like Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty.
On December 13th, I hosted an event at Shea Moisture’s Holiday Pop-Up Store in New York City’s Bryant Park in New York City and, the following day, I made sure to share some photos with you lovely readers so that you could feel like you were part of the fun. And, of course, now that all the event photos have trickled in, I wanted to offer a more detailed look at what I wore to the event.
On Friday, I appeared on Telemundo’s “Mujer de Hoy” segment, discussing this season’s smoking slipper trend.
Those of you who follow me on Twitter (@sickathanavg) or on Instagram (@sickathanaverage) might have seen some behind-the-scenes photos of the “Mujer de Hoy” segment I just filmed for Telemundo, which focused on the amazing jewelry of half-Cuban, half-Greek designer Seville Michelle Anastos, whose leather-wrapped doorknockers have breathed new life into the earrings most closely associated with females of the hip-hop generation coming up in the ’80s and ’90s.
Admittedly, as a seasoned cinematic scaredy cat, I’ve never watched a Japanese horror film — heck, I’ve barely watched some of the classic American scary flicks that have become synonymous with the genre on a national scale (and yes, that includes Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist).
