Whitley Designs Carly Necklace — A Piece So Boho Even Carly Simon Would Approve

As Carly Simon sang it, “Let the rivers run/Let all the dreamers/Wake the nation.”

“Let The River Run” and so many other Carly Simon gems might fill your mind when you behold the Whitley Designs Carly Necklace ($78 each at WhitleyDesigns.com), pictured above with either a teal turquoise or a purple turquoise pendant. Sure, the necklaces share the beloved songwriter’s moniker, but they also seem to reference her signature Bohemian style — after all, the “You’re So Vain” singer epitomized sophisticated Boho style in the ’60s and ’70s, often wearing flutter-sleeved blouses and peasant skirts, floppy hats and bell-bottomed jeans and corduroys, and gypsy-flavored jewelry.

These necklaces, then, capture a similar aesthetic — albeit modified for a modern costumer. Each necklace comes with a 20″-long brass chain with a segment of tiny gold-filled beads along the side. But, of course, the focal point is the pendant dangling from this chain — an oversize, teardrop-shaped turquoise stone with a flattened surface bearing multiple diamond-shaped facets. If you look closely enough, you’ll also notice that both the purple turquoise and teal turquoise pendants feature earthy, almost rusty flecks that make them feel all the more natural, as if they were allowed to marvel in their natural formation as opposed to being overworked and over-manipulated. Conical gold-toned metal caps at the top of each pendant, meanwhile, allow them to be looped through the accompanying chain.

The Carly is just one of the many affordable, hand-crafted pieces by California-based, jewelry-designing sisters Whitney and Hayley Stevens, the creative forces behind Whitley Designs.  To find out more on this piece or browse through other collection highlights, visit WhitleyDesigns.com
