What I Wore: Printed Maxi Dress And Brass-Toned Jewelry For A Beachy Boho Look
Colorful maxi dresses are my go-to on busy summer days when I don’t have the time to plan more elaborate outfits and when, ultimately, I want to throw something beautiful on, accessorize, and walk out the door. And, as a mom, I’ve found maxi dresses to be particularly useful on days when I’m running around with my son in tow since the right one can evoke a Bohemian charm while still maintaining a certain standard of elegance. Yesterday, then, when I had to run from place to place in Midtown Manhattan with my child by my side, I opted for this pretty maxi dress from Forever 21.
The dress has a sheer exterior but it’s partially lined with a thicker (and more opaque) black fabric that extends from the bodice to slightly above the knee. Thanks to the lining, the piece is appropriate and wearable on a day-to-day basis, but the airy quality of the printed fabric along with its vibrant, sun-soaked colors and tribal patterns, give it a free-spirited and beach-y vibe. To compound this energy, I accessorized with a brass-toned multi-layered Fiona Paxton necklace (which you can see in detail in the second photo above), the Baublebar Warrior Fringe Ear Jackets (which feature blade-like, brass-toned metal pieces for a fringe-y effect), and a stack of woven bangles from the Nicole Miller x Indego Africa collection. On my other wrist, meanwhile, I’m wearing a Tassel ponytail holder with two rows of brass-toned conical spikes, each surrounded by tiny seed beads at its base. The back of the piece is, of course, elastic so as to properly secure any updo, but the front portion is so pretty that it can actually be worn as a bracelet (as I clearly did!).
Hope this inspires you to try your style a gypsy chic maxi dress in your own unique way!
