As you lovely readers know, I made an appearance on Telemundo NY last Friday to discuss swimsuit trends — and, in particular, the rising popularity of one-piece swimsuits (a huge relief for many of us who, after having children, never feel quite comfortable baring our midriffs — no matter how thin or toned we might be). In any case, as usual, I dolled myself up as best I could for the segment, trying to stay true to my glam rock-influenced aesthetic while keeping the look polished and elegant.

It all started, of course, with the dress: a black Neiman Marcus number with magenta-tinged, violet leather accents along the neckline, the waist and the arm holes, as well as triangular leather insets angling down along either side of the neckline and angling upward from the waistline. The dress (which I bought for a bargain price at LastCall.com) takes a simple black dress silhouette and pumps up the volume through the use of leather in a punchy shade. And yet it manages to feel edgy while still looking totally demure.

To add a rock ‘n’ roll vibe, I looked no further than one of my all-time favorite jewelry brands: Laruicci. As soon as I had the dress, I knew I had to pair it with some badass Laruicci earrings. I went for the Laruicci Violette earrings ($120 at Laruicci.MyShopify.com), which have a gunmetal-colored plating and feature a faceted, blue aurora borealis crystal that looks purplish depending on the lighting. The earrings are, of course, major, the spikes at the end of each drop extending all the way down to the clavicle area. Sheer hotness! Next, I chose two Laruicci rings: one featuring a prong-set ,faceted, oversize oval stone in a mysterious violet hue; and the other a silver piece with sculptural details that make it feel like it’s wrapped around the finger three times. I snatched both pieces up at the Laruicci sample sale last week, but make sure to visit the Laruicci website for similar styles!

To finish the look, I chose a pair of mirrored silver Schutz heels that lace up and tie around the ankle. I got them on sale at MyHabit.com, and they totally make me feel like Judy Jetson (who was a style innovator, if you ask me!).

What do you think of the outfit? Hope you dig it!
