What I Wore — My Mod-Flavored Outfit On Telemundo’s “Holiday Fashion For Kids” Segment

Earlier today, I stopped by Telemundo NY to chat about holiday fashions for kids, featuring head-to-toe looks from The Children’s Place. In the segment, which is embedded above and can also be seen here, I chatted about some of the latest trends in kids’ style, many of which are more whimsical iterations of adult trends — from the abundance of leopard prints and dark floral motifs in girls’ and women’s clothing to the popularity of military motifs and colored pants for boys and men alike. Four absolutely adorable kids modeled the holiday looks for us (girls, you’ll be obsessed with the faux fur vest sported by Emma!), and I described what each was wearing and why it works so well for the season, as well as how each piece can be mixed and matched with other existing elements in any kid’s wardrobe.

For the segment, I put together a ’60s Mod outfit, with a long-sleeved, form-fitting JB by Julie Brown dress as the centerpiece. The black dress features rows of circles that gradate in size, with small and almost polka dot-like spots along the collar and shoulders giving way to larger two-toned spheres along the hemline. Adding to the ’60s vibe of the graphic print is the color-blocking element built into the design, which basically allots a segment of each circle’s bottom half to the color red. The percentage of each white circle that’s filled out in red grows as each dot increases in size, so that there’s a perfect balance between white and red in the circles located along the mid-section of the dress —and, as you reach the lower half of the frock, more than three-quarters of each sphere is filled in red.

I loved the retro vibe of the dress right away and decided I wanted to accessorize with bubbly pearl accents! I started by draping on a long Dannijo necklace featuring three staggered rows, each featuring two gold-toned cylindrical metal pieces arranged to create a “U” shape, with a bubblegum-sized pearl wedged in between the two tubular accents. Next, I added a chunky necklace from NastyGal that fit snugly around my neck and featured hefty gold-toned links and circular stations with domed faux pearls. I finished the pearl motif with a number of daintier pieces: a pair of pearl stud earrings, an open-ended ring from Baublebar (which I wore on the index finger of my left hand), and a two-finger ring form NastyGal with faux pearls arranged in a chevron-like line.

To complete the look, I slipped on some black tights and a pair of ankle-high DVF booties that  feature stacked heels but otherwise resemble Wellington boots thanks to their rubber-y uppers. The booties are a black color but feature striking white stripes along the rounded toe and the ankle collar, adding tot the heavily graphic nature of the look.

Last but not least, I gave my hair a bit of a bump along the crown, added some thick white liner, then traced the lash line with a deep black kohl pencil liner, and created a bold red lip with Lipstick Queens’s Red Sinner lipstick.
