What I Wore — Chilling in a Summery White Princess Vera Wang Dress
After five straight days of rain here in New York City, we finally woke up to some sunshine on Saturday — and for fashion lovers, that meant having a cup of coffee and quickly scouring our closets for flirty, fun, summery pieces to flaunt. I decided to build my outfit around a quintessential summer staple: a white summer dress. This particular frock is a sleeveless Princess Vera Wang Junior’s Babydoll Dress (currently $39.99 at Kohls.com) with lace details along the bodice, a scoop neck, and a ruched dress that flares at the waist.
To make the piece a bit more dynamic, I added a ton of blue accents and quirky accessories. A key part of my look was the Cult Gaia Santorini Turband ($47 at CultGaia.com), which has a color theme reminiscent of the patterns on chinoiserie china and incorporates a pattern with blossoms, paisley swirls, and geometric shapes like those commonly found on Mediterranean tiles. I tied the turban around my head and, using the wire within it, I twisted the two edges to create an oversize knot.
Next, I started working on my jewelry choices. I started out with two bracelet sets. On my right wrist, I wore a Boho chic Hipanema bracelet featuring multiple strands: one a row of translucent round beads nestled in between slim box chains; another a woven friendship bracelet featuring diamond patterns and “V” shapes, with a jewel accent made of clear, faceted, teardrop-shaped crystals adorning the center, clustered and positioned to create a leaf-like shape; a Brazilian wish ribbon; a slim cord with tiny rhinestones; and a slim braided strand with metallic gold, silver, white, and light gold thread, along with camel suede strips. On my left wrist, I wore an amazing Seville Michelle Anastos bangle set (which she created as part of a collabo with Miss KL) comprised of four bangles wrapped in leather — one in a muted cream color, two in metallic gold, and one in gold and cobalt blue to create a striped pattern — then joined together with slim gold-toned chains.
Other jewelry accents pieces included a pair of teardrop-shaped gold-toned Kendra Scott earrings with cobalt blue magnesite along their interiors and an adjustable Amrita Singh ring with an oval, domed, jade-like center stone in cobalt blue with intricate etchings.
To give myself a little lift (I am, after all, a 5’0″ tall!), I slipped on a pair of Kendra Scott sandals with rope-covered wedge heels, bands of cobalt blue fabric above the toes, and T-shaped leather straps in a camel brown hue extending up to the ankle and wrapping around it. Next, I reached for a LAMB tote in a fun Ikat print and, last but not least, a pair of blue Stella McCartney shades.
