#WCW Film Style Icon: Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn
As Harley Quinn, the psychiatrist who fell in love with the Joker at Arkham Asylum and, in the process, lost her own sanity and embraced a life of crime and erratic hijinks, Margot Robbie made Suicide Squad an absolute thrill ride. Sure, Harley is technically a criminal mastermind but, in the end, she does abandon her own selfish agenda to save the world — and looking unlawfully cool while doing it. For our third #WCW post inspired by kickass female characters in TV and film, we’re tipping out imaginary hat to Harley Quinn, with an array of goodies inspired by the character (and perfect for Halloween costumes, we might add!). Time to take a ride, puddin’!

If you’re thinking of dressing up like Harley for Halloween, make sure to master her makeup look — down to the smudged red and blue pigments she wears around her eyes. To master the look, try Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream in Red and in Intense Blue, using one color per side, and apply a bit of the high-pigmented, blendable cream color to the outer portion of the lids, extending the color outwards toward the temples and bringing it around and under the lower lash line so that it covers the upper portion of the cheekbone. Before it sets, make sure to smudge it a bit for a deliberately messy and chaotic effect.

Throughout Suicide Squad, Harley wears a silky red-and-blue varsity jacket with the words “Property of Joker” stamped on the back. This Saint Laurent jacket isn’t a spot-on replica, of course, but it does have that irreverent and whimsical feel that we associate with Harley’s fashions. Even better, though you could conceivably integrate it into a Halloween costume, it’s not Cosplay-ish in any way, so that you can rock it daily without feeling like you’re playing pretend. The red silk-cotton blend and wool bomber jacket features a band collar, a front zip fastening, side slit pockets and glittery patches — the most prominent of which features an oversize pink diamond.

Well, you can create your own riff on the look with these safety pin earrings, which are sold as single pieces or as a pair. Licensed by Warner Bros, this DC Comics Suicide Squad Harley Quin and Joker necklace nods to the layered chains Margot Robbie’s character wore in the film’s flashback scenes, when she was dancing the night away in the Joker’s club as he conducted business in an adjacent lounge area. The tiered necklace features one strand with a “Joker” charm in big block letters, one with a heart-shaped charm, and one with a “Harley” charm in cursive writing.
