The Jenner Clan Keeps Winning! Check Out The New Kendall + Kylie At Topshop Collection
It’s been a huge week for the Jenner and Kardashian clans — first, Vanity Fair introduced the world to the first photographs of Bruce Jenner’s female self, Caitlyn Jenner, with the stunning images earning comparisons to such beauty icons as Jessica Lange and Janice Dickerson; next, Caitlyn made her Twitter debut and immediately broke the record on the fastest user to reach 1 million followers (four hours as opposed to the five-hour record previously set by Barack Obama); then, Kim Kardashian announced that, after undergoing IVF treatments, she’s now expecting a second child with husband Kanye West; and now, Kylie and Kendall Jenner have launched their highly anticipated capsule collection for Topshop.
Sure, the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop collection may not “break the Internet,” but it’s selling out nearly as quickly as the Jason Wu for Target collection. Inspired by the quintessential California girl and featuring a free-spirited, festival-ready vibe as well as some vintage undertones, the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop collection is peppered with whimsical florals, poolside chic wide-leg pants, cheeky rompers, graphic sweatshirts with cheeky sayings, and lacy tops in light shades and romantic materials.
Vacation-inspired pieces abound, such as the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Hawaiian Floral Print Shirt ($65 at US.Topshop.com) shown above at top, which features a full-length button placket but also ties up at the front to reveal a hint of midriff (and we all know how these girls love those crop tops!). The oversized floral print and relaxed fit is clearly rooted in the tradition of Hawaiian shirts, but the soft shades chosen for the blossoms make the design feel young and hip — not like something George Clooney would’ve worn in The Descendants.
For a slightly more refined take on florals that feels grounded in the ’70s, check out the Kendall + Kylie Floral Print Cut-Out Jumpsuit ($105 at US.Topshop.com), pictured third above, which features a fitted bodice, wide-leg pants, and a low-cut back that would make J.Lo smile. The V-shaped neckline helps to show a hint of cleavage while the vertical seam on the bodice lengthens the silhouette,
When it’s time for a more relaxed look, you can pick up the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Ripped Denim Shorts ($60 at US.Topshop.com), which feature a high waist, a traditional five pocket construction, and rips along the thighs that reveal the faded leaf-themed, tie-dye print of the pocket bags. These can be paired with such chill session-ready pieces as the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Golden State of Mind Tee ($52 at US.Topshop.com), shown second above, made of a soft linen fabric in a gray hue and featuring the “Golden State of Mind” motto in trippy, Mystery Machine-ready bubble letters, each with a floral print center. For a more Bohemian vibe, you can pair denim shorts or wide-legged trousers with the cream-colored Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Blouson Cold Shoulder Top ($60 at US.Topshop.com), pictured fifth above, which features a shoulder-baring elasticized neckline reminiscent of Brigitte Bardot’s signature style and which also incorporates a drawstring waist and button cuffs. When temperatures rise and long sleeves are no longer an option, meanwhile, consider pairing your favorite shorts with the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Flutter Square Neck Top ($68 at US.Topshop.com), shown last above. The relaxed top features a square neckline and a matching square back that falls just a bit lower for a flash of skin, as well as ruffled sleeves reminiscent of fluttering butterfly wings.
One of the most versatile pieces in the collection (albeit one of the least exciting from a design perspective) is the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop Layered Maxi Dress shown sixth above ($95 at US.Topshop.com), a lightweight, floor-length dress with adjustable straps, a playful flounce embellishment, and a sexy low-cut back.
Overall, the Kendall + Kylie at Topshop collection isn’t necessarily memorable or groundbreaking, but the pieces within the collection are certainly wearable and, if styled correctly, can add a fun element to your summer wardrobe.
