Textured Geometric Nails At Wes Gordon Fall 2015 Show
Since gray and violet hues abounded in the Wes Gordon Fall 2015 collection, nail artist Rita Remark, working on behalf of essie, created a nail look for the designer’s show that incorporated these tones (yes, matchy-matchy is still in for Fall 2015). Moreover, the nail look played with textural juxtapositions through the use of both matte and shimmer polishes and also conveyed a quirkiness thanks to the geometric shape created to provide the aforementioned contrast. Whereas nails were primarily matte, a rectangular shape extending from the center of each nail toward the tip glistened beautifully, the contrast between these textures making for an edgy beauty statement.
To create the look, Remark started by applying the essie First Base base coat to clean and filed nails. Next, she applied two coats of the essie Smokin’ Hot nail lacquer, a creamy, plummy grey shade. Next, she applied one coat of essie Matte About You to nails, thereby giving the color a shine-free and steely feel. To complete the look, Remark then reached for the essie Sexy Divide nail lacquer, a chic metallic purple with plenty of shimmer. Using the square tip of the nail polish brush, she painted a thick vertical line from the center of each nail to the tip, creating a rectangular “box” shape.
