Sakura To Me! — Pamella Roland Unveils New Limited Edition “Cherry Blossom” Nail Lacquer
When designer Pamella Roland began envisioning her Spring 2015 collection, she turned to Tokyo for inspiration, embracing pastels that evoked the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, employing clean lines that felt very Zen, toying with jacket and dress silhouettes that subtly nodded to kimonos, adorning organza gowns with hand-painted koi fish motifs, fashioning graceful and romantic evening looks using delicate fabrics with cherry blossom prints, and cinching waists with or rope-style belts featuring mizuhiki knots. To echo the collection’s Japanese theme, the beauty look focused on pink tones — including the custom nail polish created by celebrity manicurist Patricia Yankee, which had backstage beauty reporters swooning. Well, here’s some great news: thanks to a collaboration between Pamella Roland and Pattie Yankee, that fanciful nail lacquer is available to all!
Just in time for cherry blossom (or “sakura”) festival season, which typically takes place during the last week of March (both the Bokutei Cherry Blossom Festival and the Ueno Onshi Park festival are scheduled to take place from March 27th to April 8th), Pamella Roland had released a new limited-edition nail lacquer aptly dubbed Cherry Blossom. Developed and distributed by Patricia Yankee, the Pamella Roland Cherry Blossom Limited Edition Nail Lacquer ($12 at Shop.PamellaRoland.com) is an exact facsimile of the shade used for Roland’s magnificent Spring 2015 show, which took place last September during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.
This creamy nail lacquer is simply stunning, capturing the delicate coloration of cherry blossom petals via the use of whitened blue-toned powder pink pigments and pale lilac tones. It’s the lilac undertones that I think make this shade so incredibly unique, so different from the parade of blush, honeysuckle, coral, carnation, and peony pinks that typically dominate the spring manicure landscape. The creamy finish is also beautiful and adds to the romanticism of the nail lacquer’s effect.

Pretty, right? I’m actually incredibly smitten with this shade, both because of its unique shade and because of its staying power. Also, two coats offer full coverage and, unlike other creamy nail polishes that tend to clump, this one is easy to layer and dries fairly quickly.
Dreaming of cherry blossoms yet?
