Organix Gets You Bodied With Its New Bath & Body Collection
After securing its top spot within the natural hair care division of the mass market beauty industry, Organix is eyeing the bath and body care sector, unveiling a new assortment of creamy body washes, lightweight lotions, rich creams, and non-greasy body oils with scents mimicking those of the brand’s top-selling shampoo, conditioner, and hair styling products. The body washes and lotions, then, are available in the following scents: Soothing Teatree Peppermint, Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil, Healing Cherry Blossom Rice Milk, and Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus.
Since I’ve always been smitten with the Organix Coconut Milk range (the Anti-Breakage Serum is a dear friend of mine) — and, since any island-born Boricua, I regard creamy coconut as mother’s milk — I was immediately curious to try the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Collection. The Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Body Wash ($7.99 at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid) and Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Body Lotion ($7.99 at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid) each come in sleek white bottles with golden caps, so that they look like super-sized versions of the Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner. As with their hair-loving predecessors, these body care products are packaged in eco-friendly bottles manufactured from recycled post-consumer resin and feature compostable labels printed using environmentally friendly inks.
The Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Creamy Body Wash and Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Creamy Body Lotion smell slightly different from the Coconut Milk hair products. Sure, they still have that tropical vibe to them, the sweetness and sensual creaminess of the coconut milk fragrance, but this aroma is complemented by a more feminine, delicate floral aroma. Now, in theory, this would be the result of the hibiscus note trumpeted in the collection’s name and yet, in reality, the hibiscus flower doesn’t have any distinct aroma. It’s therefore more likely that this softer aroma is the result of the combination of rice bran oil, milk proteins, and bamboo extract, which yield an earthier but still creamy scent.
As for their formulations, the Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Creamy Body Wash contains the following natural ingredients: coconut oil, which is rife with saturated fatty acids like lauric acid, an excellent antimicrobial agent, as well as polyunsaturated fatty acids like the natural anti-inflammatory and skin conditioner linoleic acid, and monounsaturated acids like oleic acid, which is essential in strengthening the skin’s lipid layer and preventing moisture loss; sugar cane extract, which contains glycolic aci that sloughs away the upper layers of skin, functioning as a natural exfoliant; willow bark extract, which boasts antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties; coconut milk proteins, which enhance skin elasticity and strengthen the skin’s immune system; rice milk, which helps to even skin tone; and bamboo extract, which is rich in silica, a substance that helps the skin absorb minerals like calcium and magnesium. Though described as a “creamy” body wash, the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Creamy Body Wash isn’t overly viscous or rich, and it does create an adequate lather — albeit not too foamy or sudsy. When rubbed onto skin, then, you can create a thin layer that’s easy to manipulate, to smooth onto the body in order to coat the desired surface area. It’s also easy to rinse off, leaving behind no greasy residue.
Still, the star product in this duo is the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Creamy Body Lotion, which has the ideal consistency for year-long use, so that it’s not as rich as a body soufflé or as lightweight as a body oil. In addition to the natural ingredients also used to formulate the accompanying body wash, the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Hibiscus Creamy Body Lotion boasts a ceramide complex designed to lock moisture into the skin, helping to heal even the roughest skin and giving it a healthy, seductive, youthful glow. The lotion is readily absorbed by the skin, so that it feels utterly weightless, making it an ideal choice for balmy summer days.
