You don’t always have to spend a month’s salary on makeup to get some wow-worthy lipstick and eye shadow colors. The new Rimmel London Glam’Eyes Mono Eye Shadow and Moisture Renew Lipstick offerings for spring pack as much vibrant color as the giant lollipop tree display inside Dylan’s Candy Bar.

The Glam’Eyes Mono Eye Shadows are crazy affordable (we’re talking less than $5 a piece), and they feature a soft, silky texture — no coarse, grainy particles or stubbly pearls. Richly pigmented, the shadows offer intense with a lustrous finish but no glittery shimmer (which I personally appreciate given that you don’t always want your lids to sparkle like a Mardi Gras top hat. The eye shadows are available in six shades: Glam Ice, a snowy pear white; Spicy Bronze, a summery brown bronze with burnt umber undertones; Posh Peacock, an azure-meets-turquoise shade; Royal Violet, a light violet hue with gray undertones; Night Jewel, a tarnished, slightly rusty, charcoal black; and Celestial Sapphire, a soft cerulean blue color. Pictured below are swatches of the eye shadows for you to check out. Luckily, these are easy to apply and they don’t crease easily, but they also don’t last particularly long (expect to reapply after a few hours) and the smallest droplet of water will unleash a makeup state of emergency.

The Moisture Renew Lipsticks, meanwhile, feature hydrating ingredients like collagen, polypeptides and hyaluronic acid, as well as antioxidants like vitamin A, C and E. Plus, the lipsticks provide SPF 20 protection, making them ideal for summer, when you’re likely to spend more time in the sun (lest we forget, the skin on your lips is also susceptible to UV damage). I love that, even if your lips are a bit dry or chapped, you can glide this lipstick on and it will effectively smooth the surface while also depositing the pigment, so that the color isn’t sinking into those creases on your lips and making your pout look like a botched surrealist painting. The lipsticks are available in 18 shades.ha

I had the chance to try 5 shades: Summer Angel, a very sheer, iridescent bronze hue; Berry Queen, a delicious raspberry hue; Pink Chic, a cool begonia pink with light lilac undertones; Rose Blush, which reminds me of the darker pink in a cherry blossom; and Coral Shimmer, another ultra sheer shade (this time it’s a pink coral with golden tones). The lipsticks do look great on the pout and you might even experience a cooling sensation, but do know that the shades aren’t really designed for extensive wear. The color starts to fade relatively quickly, so be prepared to reapply ever 2-3 hours.
