New eos “Basket of Fruit” Smooth Sphere Lip Balm Pack Makes a Smoother Pout a Walk in the Park
Every time I look at the adorable packaging of the eos Basket of Fruit Smooth Sphere Lip Balm 4-Pack ($10.99 at Target, Drugstore.com and evolutionofsmooth.com), I’m reminded of the Mad Men Season 1 episode in which Peggy participated in a lipstick testing session for agency client Belle Jolie and, while regarding a waste bin filled with lipstick-covered tissues, inadvertently coined the phrase that would become central to the brand’s ad campaign: “a basket of kisses.” Granted, Peggy was remarking on the stains left behind by women’s painted pouts as they blotted their mouths with tissues, so that the reference was rooted in the rainbow of colors she saw before her, but the analogy still seems to fit nicely for this new lip balm kit from Evolution of Smooth. After all, nothing is more vital to a kiss — whether it’s a seemingly endless lip-lock filled with longing and desire, a bashful peck from a shy admirer, a cheerful greeting from your partner, or the ending to a promising first date — than soft, smooth lips.
The eos Basket of Fruit kit, then, contains four eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balms, each in a deliciously juicy flavor. The four Smooth Sphere Lip Balm flavors in the kit are: Summer Fruit, which comes in a warm red sphere and has a lovely scent of sweet, juicy peaches sprinkled with a hint of passionfruit; Pomegranate Raspberry, which comes in a dark red sphere and smells predominantly of tart, sun-ripened pomegranate with just a hint of raspberry; Strawberry Sorbet, which is packaged inside a My Little Pony-worthy, light pink sphere and smells like a sweet, strawberry-flavored gummy candy; and the new limited edition Fresh Watermelon, which comes in a bright, deep honeysuckle pink sphere and smells exactly like mouth-watering, freshly cut watermelon. The four lip balms are packaged inside a boxed kit with a clear center, a plastic covering exposing the four sphere-shaped lip balms inside, and the carton along the sides illustrated so as to resemble a basket woven out of pink rattan.
As with all of the brand’s egg-shaped lip balms, these rely on a 100% natural, 95% organic formula that incorporates fatty acid-rich, conditioning and moisturizing shea butter; jojoba oil, which seals in moisture, smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, and fortifies the skin’s moisture barrier to better protect it from both free radicals and dehydration; antioxidant-rich sunflower oil, a great source of vitamin E; and olive oil, which provides longer lasting hydration. Each petroleum-, paraben-, phtalate-, and gluten-free lip balm glides onto lips effortlessly and leaves behind no greasy or oily residue. Plus, thanks to the Smooth Sphere’s clever packaging, you never have to use your potentially dirty fingers to apply lip balm. Instead, you can just twist off the domed cap, press your finger pads around the base of the egg-shaped packaging and roll the rounded surface of the balm over your pout.
Not only is the set absolutely adorable, its clever packaging perfectly suited for the season of picnics and outdoor cookouts, but it contains the best eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm flavors. I’ve long been a fan of the Strawberry Sorbet and Summer Fruit lip balm flavors, but the Fresh Watermelon has now claimed the top spot as my favorite eos Smooth Sphere flavor to date. I may actually have to buy quite a few of these kits just so I can have the Fresh Watermelon lip balms on hand after summer comes to an end and they’re officially retired!
