Muted Opalescent Nails at Tadashi Shoji Spring 2014 Show

Forget nails encrusted with crystals, coated in icy glitter or boasting intricate color-blocked and half-moon motifs. The models at the Tadashi Shoji Spring 2014 show sported nails that were demure yet ethereal. The romantic dresses that constituted the designer’s “Sweet Liberation” collection were concocted out of delicate lace and tulle, many boasting floral motifs or featuring fanciful father fringe, and the color palette was equally soft and pretty, consisting of pale blush pink, seafoam green, delicate peach, snowy white, and iridescent pale purple. To complement these dreamy designs, Katie Hughes, Global Colour Ambassador for butter LONDON, created a nail look that would exude femininity without being overly dainty, conveying a sense of confidence while remaining soft and tender. The resulting look consisted of a muted, nude-ish pink nail with an alluring iridescence, a prim and sophisticated opalescence.

To create the look, Hughes applied one coat of the butter LONDON nail lacquer in Yummy Mummy, a creamy medium beige shade that’s almost flesh-toned, then layered a coat of the Hen Party nail lacquer, a sheer opal shade with neutral undertones, above it. The opalescence of Hen Party adds the gem-like quality that makes this look so appealing, while the minimalism of the Yummy Mummy color keeps the look muted and understated. Last but not least, Hughes applied the butter LONDON Matte Finish Shine Free Topcoat to complete the look.
