Normally, I shudder when I hear the word “foundation.” What can I say? I’m not a fan. But then, along came Tarte Comsetics ReCreate Anti-Aging Foundation, which hits stores next month — and, now, I’m forced to reconsider my earlier position on the matter (hey, it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind!).
Tarte’s ReCreate Anti-Aging Foundation features SPF 15 and Tarte’s unique Wrinkle Rewind Technology, and it has yielded incredible results in clinical trials: 43% of testers reported an increase in skin elasticity and firmness after 4 weeks of use, 67% of testers reported viewing a significant reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and lines after 6 weeks of use, and 52.8% noticed their skin felt more moisturized as quickly as 15 minutes after application.
Most foundations merely mask any blemishes and discolorations, create the illusion of an even and smooth skin tone and, in the process, dry out the skin, clog pores, and lead to greater inflammation, more break-outs, and dehydrated skin. But Tarte ReCreate Anti-Aging Foundation actually focuses on tending to the skin as it delivers the right amount of pigmentation — it treats the skin, soothes it, and prevents further environmental damage. A silicone-in-water emulsion base ensure the skin retains moisture for a prolonged period of time, while a hexapeptide blend, along with goji berry extract, increase skin elastin production (hence why your skin looks firmer and younger), and peat and what extracts add moisturize the skin. Meanwhile, SPF 15 protection is provided through a mineral system of micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. And, of course, there’s Tarte’s patented Wrinkle Rewind technology, which focuses on restoring elasticity, firmness, and suppleness to the skin.
The foundation is available in 12 shades, ranging from porcelain 00 to chestnut 22 (a warm, deep brown). It is pictured above in the Cool Sand 10 shade.
Once you apply the foundation, you’ll actually feel the moisture being delivered to your skin (which is a selling point in and of itself) and, because it’s mineral-based, you can apply as many layers as needed to attain the desired look and coverage (even if you apply multiple layers, you won’t feel like you’re wearing a facial cast).
