Marina B KAR Collar — As Seen on Alicia Keys at the 2013 Super Bowl

There’s no denying that Beyoncé brought the house down during  thee Super Bowl Halftime Show last weekend, belting out her biggest hits while executing high-energy dance routines with flawless precision and making it all look effortless, barely breaking a sweat in her knee-high boots and skin-tight , dominatrix-worthy ensemble. If Beyoncé meant to crack her whip and force naysayers to recognize her talent, she more than accomplished her mission. And yet with all the deafening Bey talk  we’ve been hearing — from the debate regarding her decision to lip sync during the Presidential Inauguration all the way to the overall positive nature of the post-Super Bowl chatter — some of the other stars who performed at these historic events were relegated to footnote status. The multi-talented pianist and chanteuse Alicia Keys, for instance, treated us to a pitch-perfect and slightly unconventional rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner,” delivered with palpable passion and a guttural emotional connection. Sure, it was the longest National Anthem performance in Super Bowl history, at 2.5 minutes in total length, but Keys made it unforgettable. And, of course, she looked exquisite while belting out the tine, perched in front of her piano wearing a burgundy-toned, sleeveless, racerback  Alia maxi dress with a slightly flared hemlin, which she accessorized beautifully with Marina B’s stunning KAR Collar (shown above).

Originally designed by jeweler Marina Bulgari in 1987, the Marina B collar sits at the base of the neck, hugging it ever so slightly in a way that accentuates the length of the neck and draws the eye toward the face. As the granddaughter of  Sottiro Bulgari, the mastermind behind the fine Italian jewelry brand Bulgari, Marina worked for her abuelo’s now iconic company before eventually setting out on her own in 1977.  Soon, she became known for her elegant but sensuous aesthetic, not to mention her conceptual approach to design, which incorporated juxtaposing shapes and textures, combining feminine curves with sharp geometric lines.

The Marina B KAR Collar (available for $32,000 at MarinaB.com) epitomizes these design qualities with an 18k yellow gold base featuring etched, swerving strips reminiscent of sloping crane’s necks, each adorned with diamonds and spaced perfectly along the length of the necklace to create a pattern that’s at once dynamic and unpredictable.

It may cost more than some colleges’ yearly tuitions but, hey, a girl can dream, right?
