Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner — A Water Baby’s Dream

‘Tis the season to frolic in the water, and Make Up For Ever‘s got you covered. Even if the scorching heat prompts you to dash through the sprinklers, dive in the pool, or take a dip inside a jacuzzi, you’ll still have perfectly lined eyes thanks to the brand’s latest launch: the Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner ($23 each at Sephora.com).

Available in 15 shades with finishes ranging from matte to iridescent and diamond (the latter being the most glimmer-packed option of them all), the Aqua Liners are formulated with acrylic copolymer, a macromolecule that’s known to be hydrophobic, hence locking water out and guaranteeing the color stays in place on your lids. The formula is richly pigmented and imbued with amino acids derived from apple juice, which increases the longevity of these pigments and boosts their intensity.

Even if you’re not an aquatic sort, you’ll appreciate the Aqua Liners’ ability to repel moisture from sweat droplets and rivulets— particularly given that perspiration is an inevitable part of summer living. In fact, the liners have so much staying power that they won’t dissipate even after a lengthy shower and some vigorous scrubbing, only fading away when you apply makeup remover.

Aside from the lush colors and their fail-proof waterproof formula, you’ll likely appreciate the foam applicator tip, which manages to absorb enough color to make every stroke count and which is shaped into a thin point for maximum precision. Since the tip is made of a sponge-y material rather than brush bristles, you won’t have to worry about hairs fraying and, in turn, yielding a messy line when brushed onto lids.

The Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner comes in the following shades:

#1: Diamond Gold

#3: Iridescent Emerald Green

#4: Diamond Lagoon Green

#5: Diamond Turquoise Blue

#6: Iridescent Navy Blue

#7: Diamond Black Purple

#8: Iridescent Electric Purple

#16: Diamond White

I had the chance to try out the No. 3 and No. 11 shades, so check out the swatches after the jump!

Below, you’ll find swatches of the Aqua Liner in No. 3 and in No. 11. I love the emerald color — it reminds me of a photo of a gorgeous green lagoon in Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes National Park that I stumbled upon some time ago. The No. 11 shade, meanwhile, broaches the divide between chocolate brown and burgundy wine, delivering an auburn-ish shade packed with glimmer. Both shades have a luminous finish and you can increase their intensity by applying more layers, building up the color.

The length of the applicator is perfect and allows even those of us with relatively unsteady hands to unleash our imaginations and use the liner like our own magical paint brushes.
