Liquid Assets — New Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick Summer 2015 Shades

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to liven up a home — and nothing like a fluid, sheen-heavy, wet-looking lip color to brighten up one’s face. The Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick ($21 at TooFaced.com) hones in on the magic of liquid lipsticks, so that each squeezable tube contains an intensely pigmented, full coverage, rich and creamy, molten lipstick with a vinyl-like sheen that yields a sexy “wet” look. Part of the product’s magic lies in its portable tube and its easy-to-use sponge applicator tip, which features a slanted, angled cut that allows for greater precision when smoothing the color along the cupid’s bow or the outer corners of the mouth. Now, the Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks are billed as having astounding staying power, but it’s important to note that these lip colors don’t remain as intense hours after application but, instead, fade to leave more of a lip stain effect. Your lips won’t be left bare, naked and devoid of any color, but the” long wear” description might be a bit misleading for those who hope the initial level of intensity will remain fixed and unwavering as they go about their busy days. Now, if you’re fine with your lip color fading and leaving behind a more subtle tint, then you’ll be more than satisfied. Also, because each tube is so portable, it’s easy to touch up your lip color while you’re on the move, so that you can add a bit more pigment after eating or drinking and continue achieving a wet-looking, show-stopping, attention-getting kisser.

I personally love the consistency of this liquid lipstick — it’s not too fluid, so that it won’t move from where it’s deposited (like lip gloss so often does), but it’s also not so thick that it ‘s difficult to smooth onto lips. Also, the sponge applicator is a genius detail since you can apply the color to your pout, make sure the product is evenly distributed, achieve the desired coverage, and blend the liquid lipstick with the comfortable and plush tip. A single swipe should deliver full coverage, and the pigments will look more dynamic, multi-dimensional, and intense than almost any solid lipstick. Also, the sheen is magnificent since it’s slick but modern and demure, not sparkly or glittery.

For Summer 2015, Too Faced introduced several new shades to its best-selling Melted Long Wear Lipstick range — among them Melted Frosting, Melted Strawberry, Melted Velvet, Melted Sugar, and Melted Jelly Donut. Below, you’ll get more details on each color, as well as swatches!

Let’s start with the brighter, most striking shades (pictured below): Melted Strawberry, which looks like strawberry jelly but amplified for a more robust effect and a truly opaque product; Melted Frosting, a blue-toned light pink that’s reminiscent of strawberry frosted donuts; and Melted Jelly Donut, a deep fuchsia pink that borders on magenta.

All three colors shown above are funky and bold, but Melted Strawberry and Melted Jelly Donut will probably prove flattering to more women than Melted Frosting, which could look fabulous on some ladies and tragic on others.

Now, moving onto the following two shades, we have Melted Sugar, a French vanilla-tinged nude color, and Melted Velvet, a chocolate-y rich maroon red that’s vamp-y and sexy. Check out the swatches of these shades below:

The Melted Sugar shade is lovely, but unfortunately washes me it quite a bit given that I’m rather fair, but I do like the mysterious and sanguine edge of the Melted Velvet hue (though I’d probably wear it in the autumn and winter months more often than in the spring or summer).

Still, out of the five new shades, my heart belongs to Melted Strawberry since it’s playful but chic.

One caveat regarding the Melted lip colors: they can be a bit drying on lips. I find that it’s best to wear these after exfoliating your lips (try dry brushing them with a toothbrush, then doing a simple scrub with the Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Polish) and applying a balm, allowing the moisturizing ingredients to penetrate the fragile skin on the mouth and letting the balm dry fully so that the Melted liquid lipsticks can be absorbed. Similarly, when you remove your lip color, you might want to give your lips some extra TLC with a lip mask or a super-strength lip conditioner.

Still, the colors are bold and bossy (in the best way), and there’s something infinitely alluring about that stunning “wet” effect.
