Kerry Washington’s Radiant Skin And Soft Coral Pink Lips at the 2013 Oscars

Though I was a bit perplexed by the strapless coral Miu Miu dress Kerry Washington wore to the 2013 Oscars (can’t say I loathed it, but I definitely didn’t think it was up to par with her typical red carpet fare, which is usually spot-on), I did think her minimalist beauty look was simply superb. Her skin was glowing, her high cheekbones were perfectly sculpted, she had just the faintest rosy tone on her cheeks, and her lips had this petal pink color that was demure and matte but pretty and fresh.

Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez created the Scandal star’s look for the awards ceremony, using mainly Lancôme products and using as her inspiration the glistening crystals and beads embroidered along the bodice of Washington’s gown. To give Washington’s face medium coverage infused with a dewy finish, Gonzalez used Giorgio Armani Maestro’s Foundation in No. 10, mixing it with Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in No. 11 since the latter product adds a radiant veil to the complexion. Next,  she swept Lancôme Blush Subtil in Brilliant Berry along Washington’s cheeks to give them a rosy but understated tint.

The eye look was similarly understated, focusing on neutral tones that spoke to the organic feel of the dress’s beading. Gonzalez relied on the Lancôme Color Design All-in-One 5-Shadow & Liner Palette in Sienna Sultry, which incorporates a matte beige hue, a punchy yellow-toned pink with a shimmering finish, a matte taupe brown, a soft golden copper hue with lots of golden and copper shimmer, and a golden chocolate brown with shimmer. Next, she curled Washington’s lashes and coated them with the lengthening, volume-boosting, ultra glam Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara.

Lastly, on the lips, Gonzalez applied the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro, a matte lip stain with a velvety texture, in the shade 202, a rosy nude tone, and blended it with the Lancôme Rouge in Love lipstick in Rose Boudoir, a clean and vibrant coral shade.
