Keep Your Under Eye Skin Right & Tight With New Benefit Firm It Up! Eye Serum

I was thrilled when, last week, a dear friend’s name popped up on my cell phone screen — that is, until I realized she was dialing me using FaceTime. It was early in the morning, so I’d barely brushed me hair — let alone applied any makeup. I contemplated letting the call go to voicemail, but then I pinched myself , realizing I was being utterly ridiculous, and I answered, but not without scolding my friend first. “How are you not going to give me a heads- up before FaceTiming me?” I asked. “I’m FaceTiming without having my face on!” Funny enough, as we were chatting, I reached for Benefit’s Firm It Up! Eye Serum ($38 at BenefitCosmetics.com) and dabbed it along the delicate skin under my eyes. My friend asked, “What did you just put on?” I showed her the slim aqua-colored tube in which the serum was packaged and went on to rave about it. A few minutes later, while relaying an anecdote, she interrupted her story and peered into her phone. “What’s happening? Everything okay?” I asked. “Yeah, I just can’t believe that eye stuff worked so quickly. Your bags are, like, gone!” I walked over to a mirror and, sure enough, the puffiness under my eyes had vanished. The Benefit Firm It Up! Eye Serum had truly lived up to its name.

Firmness aside, this lightweight serum also illuminates the under-eye area, helping to decrease the appearance of any dark circles. The serum contains Moringa pterygosperma seed oil, which is rich in vitamins A and C, calcium and iron, as well as the amino acids methionine and cysteine. Methionine plays an instrumental role in helping the skin produce collagen, which of course helps the skin remain firm, taut, and wrinkle-free. Cysteine, meanwhile, is believed to boost blood circulation, thereby preventing the blood accumulation under the eyes that often leads to the skin along this area looking dark blue or purple. In other words, by increasing microcirculation, this amino acid helps to brighten the area under the eyes. Hydrolyzed soy flour, meanwhile, features proteins that help the skin retain moisture and minimize any roughness and fine lines. Sorbitol, a sugar-like alcohol, acts like a humectant, binding moisture to the skin. Betaine, another amino acid in the formula, also functions as a humectant since its molecular structure makes it prone to forming hydrogen bonds, thereby interacting easily with H20. By helping the skin attract and retain moisture, betaine helps to give the skin a plumper appearance, filling in any fine lines and giving the complexion a smoother appearance and a softer texture. These are only some of the ingredients in the Firm It Up! Eye Serum, but they explain why it’s so effective in terms of rapidly firming and brightening the skin under the eyes.

I’ve personally seen the biggest difference in terms of increased firmness rather than radiance, but it does help on both fronts. That said, I’d advise using this serum and then following up with an anti-aging eye cream that further helps to boost collagen and elastin production so you can fend off wrinkles and dark spots.

Another plus: the serum’s pump dispenser makes it easy to apply, and you don’t have to worry about any of the ingredients losing their potency when exposed to oxygen and other environmental elements (as you typically do with a cream packaged in a jar that gets opened constantly).

If, like me, you want to keep it tight from head to toe, you can get closer to that goal with Benefit’s Firm It Up! ($38 at BenefitCosmetics.com).
