Junk Food Releases New “Suicide Squad” T-Shirt Collection
What if you could go into the mind of the comic book world’s most notorious villains — specifically, Batman’s foes — and see the world through their eyes? Well, that’s the concept behind the upcoming Suicide Squad film, which hits theaters on August 5th. Forget Seven Psychopaths — between Harley Quinn, Joker, Deadshot, Enchantress, and Slipknot, the film promises more demented antics than American Horror Story: Hotel (and way cooler cinematography).
In anticipation of the movie’s release, Junk Food just unveiled a new limited-edition collection of licensed T-shirts featuring some of the movie’s most talked-about characters. Designs include: the Suicide Square Harley Quinn Tee ($36 at JunkFoodClothing.com), pictured at top, which shows a black-and-white photo of actress Margot Robbie as her Harley Quinn alter ego, wearing a tee that says “Daddy’s Lil’ Monster,” her hair in ponytails, a baseball bat resting atop her shoulders; the Suicide Squad Joker Tee ($36 at JunkFoodClothing.com), a black cotton tee featuring a black-and-white image of Jared Leto as the Joker; and the Suicide Squad Tee ($36 at JunkFoodClothing.com), which shows the entire crew of troublemakers, with the words “Suicide” and “Squad” scrawled in red letters akin to those used by anarchists (and the anarchy symbol in lieu of the “A” in “squad”).
All the tees are currently web exclusives and, for the moment, they seem to only be available in men’s sizes ranging from Small to XXL. One can only hope Junk Food rolls these out in women’s sizes since it would be a little upsetting if girls were left out of the fun — particularly given that some of the film’s female villains are said to steal the show. Besides, it’s beyond sexist in this day and age to assume that women will only wear tees with cartoon characters, cheeky phrases (aka “Wild Babe” and “Wrong Is The Next Right,” which are both currently emblazoned across women’s tees and tanks by Junk Food), and rock band logos. I, for one, would love to get my hands on a badass Harley Quinn or Joker tee!
If men’s sizes don’t become available, then you can always scoop up a men’s tee and start cutting it up and distressing it ’til you’re content with the fit and style. After all, a DIY spirit does seem to go with the whole Suicide Squad ethos!
