HSN Reveals New Snow White and the Huntsmen Collection Inspired By The Film

Though some modern cinematic adaptations of classic fairy tales have  fallen flat with audiences — the recently released Mirror Mirror and last year’s Riding Hood  among the culprits — the Charlize Theron– and Kristen Stewart-helmed Snow White and the Huntsmen promises to change this trend with an edgier, more gothic take on the classic tale, an emphasis on visual effects and epic-feeling cinematography, and top-notch performances from an A-level cast. Opening tomorrow, the Rupert Sanders-directed film has already earned won the hearts of reviewers who have raved about everything from the operatic score to the emphasis on fantasy, the gorier and more medieval-flavored action sequences, and the larger-than-life costume designs.

To make customers feel like they’re the “fairest of them all,” HSN teamed up with Snow White and the Huntsmen costume designer Colleen Atwood, who created her first-ever fashion collection for HSN, Atwood by Colleen Atwood, with the debut installment incorporating pieces inspired by the film. The launch of the Atwood  by Colleen Atwood line also coincides with the release of an even larger collection of jewelry, beauty offerings, hair accessories, home decor accents, and apparel based on the film.

Though the Atwood by Colleen Atwood pieces (peasant-style tunics with square collars featuring lace-up details, lace-up caftans, and hooded dusters) are devastatingly underwhelming, resembling Halloween costumes as opposed to modern and stylish pieces for everyday wear, many of the other items in this curated collection perfectly capture the spirit of the classic fairy tale without being overly gimmicky.

From peasant-style blouse and dress silhouettes to medieval knight elements, poison apple motifs, branches and trees meant to allude to the woods into which Snow White was banished by the Evil Queen, black feather accents befitting of Charlize Theron’s Ravenna character, crown accents, and crystalline elements that reference the Evil Queen’s mirror, the HSN Snow White and the Huntsmen collection captures the tale’s dominant thematic elements.

Perhaps the most charming offering is the D.L. & Company Poison Apples Candle Gift Set ($60 for 3-piece set at HSN.com), pictured at top, which features three figural candles — one green, one black, and one red — all with gleaming metallic exteriors and sculptural gold metal stems. When you lift the top half of each apple-shaped candle and reveal the scented wax at their core, the room will be filled with an enticing fragrance that would make anyone want to take a bite. Those who were always enticed by the poison apple portion of the Snow White tale might be amused by the Heidi Daus Forbidden Fruit Crystal Pin ($159 at HSN.com), pictured last above, a bronze-tone brooch featuring pavé-set ruby, white opal, olive, smoky topaz, and green Crystallized Swarovski Elements.

The Love & Rock by Loree Rodkin Maltese Cross Cuff Bracelet ($69.95 at HSN.com) shown second from top, meanwhile, speaks to the more medieval elements incorporated into the film (think halberds, wrought iron armor, and etched shields. This oversize simulated leather-wrapped cuff features a stingray-like texture and is adorned with a metal Maltese cross covered with pavé-set round crystals.

Those who are sometimes naughty and sometimes nice will appreciate the duality offered by the Deborah Lippmann Snow White Nail Lacquer Set ($29.95 at HSN.com), pictured third from top, which includes Prelude to a Kiss, a sheer, creamy light pink hue, and Dark Side of the Moon, a decadent-feeling, mischievous, deep eggplant shade.

And, since beauty (and what defines it), lies at the heart of the Snow White story, the collection incorporates some jewelry pieces whose exquisiteness cannot be questioned — among them the Heidi Daus Endless Beauty 2-Row Beaded Drop Necklace ($469 at HSN.com) shown fourth from top. Boasting a Y-design drop, this intricate necklace features oval-shaped stations meant to resemble flowers, each with a prong-set green Swarovski crystal at its center, paisley-shaped clear crystals positioned along their perimeter to resemble leaves, and another row of pavé-set, multi-colored round crystals along the outer rim. Double rows of translucent purple beads  (the color of royalty) form the chain portion of the piece, while the larger floral stations are connected by smaller, clustered stations shaped like whimsical daisies.

After the jump, you’ll find photos of more offerings from this magical collection — including an accent table featuring a scultpural base resembling a tree trunk and adorned with butterflies seemingly perching on branches. Check out the full collection at HSN.com and try to find which piece you think is the fairest of them all.
