Happy Fourth of July! Be the Most Stylish Patriot in the Eugenia Kim Honey Hat

Even keyboard-happy bloggers need a day off so, to celebrate the Fourth of July, yours truly will be stepping away from the computer, putting the mobile on vibrate (yes, that means limited tweeting action too!), and allowing myself to relax — admittedly a concept that’s become entirely too foreign to me. Now, I won’t be disingenuous and act like I’ll be handing out USA flags and crooning the national anthem to celebrate Independence Day (I’m not quite that patriotic) but I will, in my own way, acknowledge all the blessings I’ve had as a result of being a US citizen: from freedom of speech (lest we forget, censorship is the norm in some countries) to equality for women (granted, this remains a work in progress, but the feminist movement has thrived here and allowed us to strive for success in our homes and at the workplace).

So, while I won’t be decked in head-to-toe stars and stripes, I will definitely add touches of red, white, and blue to my ensemble. If I could, I’d finish off my outfit with the Eugenia Kim Honey 1 Hat ($295 at EugeniaKim.com) pictured above, a floppy beach hat with a 90% paper ad 10% cotton fabrication. I unfortunately don’t have the time to scoop it up at this late juncture, but this one-of-a-kind hat perfectly captures the Fourth of July spirit without looking like some facetious gimmick.

Made in the USA and available online exclusively, this light mint-colored hat features thin royal blue stripes along the crown and brim, as well as a thick, coral red band outlining the edge of the malleable, swooping brim. A knotted black rope trim accentuates the base of the crown, its braided formation adding a nautical twist and the golden tips of the rope edges upping the glamour quotient.  Measuring 22.5″ in circumference, the Honey 1 will  protect you from the sun’s rays without sacrificing your yacht-appropriate look. Heck, if Goldie Hawn’s character in Overboard were around in this age, she’d want to nab this hat for her own maritime journeys.

In any case, check out this beauty of a hat and, most importantly, have a safe and happy holiday!
