Earlier this morning, I appeared on Telemundo 47’s “Buenos Días Nueva York” to discuss the hottest trends in hair accessories for spring and summer. As usual, it was an absolute blast, and I loved watching the host’s reaction to all the lovely pieces being displayed. Above, you’ll find the actual segment for your viewing pleasure. Since the segment was filmed in Spanish, I’ve also included more details on the different trends discussed in the segment for all you lovely English-only readers and purchasing details for all the pieces showcased.

Without further ado, here’s a look at the trends discussed!

HEADPIECES AND HEAD CHAINS

For a Cleopatra-worthy look, nothing quite adds a bit of Bohemian glamour like a lovely head chain. We’ve seen Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, and Vanessa Hudgens all sporting intricate draping chains, some even adorned with stones like onyxes and jades or luminous crystals. Other headpieces, meanwhile, can conjure up a Great Gatsby elegance via their intricate Art Deco designs.

On the segment, I showcased three pieces, all pictured above. Moving from left to right, the pieces consist of: the Haute Betts Stevie Headpiece ($165 at HauteBetts.com), which features rectangular onyx-colored stones along its entire surface; the Margaret Rowe LA Floral Wreath Crystal Headpiece ($199 at HSN.com), a stunning design made for HSN’s new Maleficent collection consisting of S-shaped golden stations encrusted with clear crystals to create a wreath-like pattern, culminating in a floral accent at the center, with a white ribbon softening the design and allowing wearers to adjust the length of the piece; and the Nissa Jewelry Courtney Head Chain ($68 at NissaJewelry.com), a silver-toned, edgy piece with diamond-shaped studs along the center chain, running vertically down the middle of the head.

FLORAL ACCESSORIES

Next, we discussed how blossoms have made a huge comeback this spring.

First, we’re seeing tons of celebrities wearing oversize blossoms in their hair, recalling the gardenias worn by Billie Holiday or even the daisies Drew Barrymore sported during the early ’90s. We’re even seeing these blossoms on the red carpet: Zooey Deschanel swept her hair into an updo and adorned it with a white blossom for the Golden Globes earlier this year. To get the look can channel your inner flower child, you can simply buy one of the vibrant hair clips shown above (atop the crystal cubes), each of which retails for $3.95 at H&M stores.

The second part of this trend involves floral crowns, which have been in vogue for years but have been limited to certain occasions like the Coachella Music Festival. Now, they’re becoming a street style essential.  Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have both been spotted wearing Boho chic floral crowns while strolling through Hollywood, and now the floral crowns are popping up at every major retailer.

The prettiest crowns are still the handiwork of Cult Gaia and so we showcased two of their offerings: the Blush Paper Rose Crown ($75 at CultGaia.com), which features daintier, mauve-colored roses on a twine-like crown with a chain and clasp closure; and the larger, more dramatic Midnight Crown ($88 at CultGaia.com), which features larger, black blossoms.

Those who want to experiment with the trend without making a big investment, meanwhile, can pick up one of the smaller crowns (pictured behind the two Cult Gaia pieces at the front) which go for $9.99 each at Payless stores.

CHIC BASEBALL HATS

Athletic-inspired looks are huge this season, and one quick way to add a bit of varsity verve to an ensemble is via a baseball cap in a fun color or print. The latest crop of baseball hats features near-psychedelic prints that are perfect for the summer season.

Pictured above at front are two fun options: a floral print cap in neon pink, coral, yellow, lime green, and indigo blue from Forever 21 ($8.80) and an aqua-colored H&M cap with a jungle-themed print featuring Siberian tigers over a backdrop of palm leaves and exotic flowers ($12.95 at H&M). Behind these two caps, meanwhile, are two other great options: one Xhilaration featuring a Sarape-esque striped pattern along the front panel ($12.99 at Target.com) and another an H&M cap boasting a tropical palm leaf print ($12.95 at H&M stores).

TWIST SCARVES AND TURBANDS

For a retro bombshell look, a headband with a playful knot or twist along the top does absolute wonders. Taylor Swift is a huge fan of Ban.do‘s twist scarves, pictured above in a striped black-and-white print and in a cherry red with gold dots. Each of them retails for $20 at Shopbando.com and since each piece features a malleable wire along the inside, you can decide exactly how you want to place it on your head and wether you want the scarf ends to hand loose like little bunny ears, whether you want to work them into a knot, and so forth.

Demi Lovato, meanwhile, prefers the wider fabric panels of Cult Gaia‘s “turbands,” which again feature malleable wires that allow users to determine how to rock their pieces. The Cult Gaia turbands come in a plethora of fun prints, but I focused on two: the Cherry Morello Turband ($38 at CultGaia.com) and the Santorini Turband ($47 at CultGaia.com)

SUN HATS

Wide-brimmed, lightweight, floppy sun hats are always in vogue come beach season but, this year, we’re seeing more inventive iterations of this summer wardrobe staple: from pastel hues to color-blocked motifs and striped patterns. The two hats shown here speak to these new trends.

The one shown in the front is a mint green piece from Forever 21 retailing for only $15 at Forever 21 stores while the one in the back is a striped Merona hat available at Target stores for $15.
