Get A Petal-Soft Pout With New Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15
Right at the height of the winter season, when once supple and smooth lips start chapping, flaking, peeling, and cracking due to the brutal cold and dry air (not to mention the damage wrought by radiators and space heaters), Fresh has launched a new product certain to make caring for your pout feel like it’s all moonlight and roses. Since releasing the game-changing Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in 2014, Fresh has continued expanding its line of hydrating lip balms, routinely introducing new tinted offerings that give lips just a hint of sheer color. One of the most popular launches (aside from the original Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15), of course, was its Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment, which debuted in 2009 and was the first tinted balm within the collection. Six years later, Fresh has re-imagined its Fresh Rosé Lip Treatment and given it a brand new party dress with the launch of the Fresh Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($22.50 at Fresh.com and Sephora.com).
Before we get into what makes this formula “extreme,” let’s pause for a minute to admire the beauty of its packaging. Check out the photos below, which show the bright red graphic rose pattern stamped atop the metallic pink aluminum cap of the Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment, and which cover the accompanying box.
Already smitten? Well, wait until you hear about the improvements made to the formula!
Like it predecessor, the Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15 contains the following power-packed botanical ingredients: sugar; a natural humectant that draws moisture from the environment, moisturizing the skin while also preventing future moisture loss; grape seed oil, which contains polyphenols (among them flavonoids) that reduce damage within skin cells and stimulate collagen and elastin production, thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; meadowfoam seed oil, an excellent emollient that isn’t overly unctuous; black currant seed oil, a great source of gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) and alpha linoleic acid (ALA), both of which soothe skin inflammations and condition the skin; jojoba seed oil, another natural emollient that’s readily absorbed by the skin; sunflower seed oil, a great source of vitamin E and oleic acid (the latter reduces inflammation, moisturizes parched skin, and acts as a penetration enhancer, allowing the other nutrients to reach deep into the dermal layer); and castor oil, which lubricates the skin rapidly for near-instant relief. Similarly, both lip treatments offer SPF 15 protection thanks to the avobenzone and octinoxate in their formulas. But, unlike the Fresh Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment, the Sugar Fresh Rosé Extreme version also incorporates rose oil, which works as a natural astringent and antiseptic and which also gently moisturizes and replenishes the skin.
The addition of rose oil not only makes the lip treatment all the more moisturizing, but it infuses it with a romantic floral aroma. When you buy the Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15, then, you literally come up smelling roses!
I’ve always argued that the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 is hands-down the best lip moisturizer on the market (followed by L’Occitane’s shea-based lip balms and the bargain-priced EOS Smooth Spheres) since it can heal and moisturize even the most chapped lips. It’s definitely the one product that I think might have helped Detective Linden in The Killing who, for four seasons, made viewers like myself wince with her flaky and painful-looking pout. Bottom line: these lip treatments are like IVs for your pout!
In terms of the sheer color it deposits atop lips, the Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15 is nearly identical to the Fresh Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment SPF 15 both in terms of intensity and tonality. I’d argue that the Rosé Extreme version has slightly cooler undertones but, again, the difference is minimal. Check out the two shades side-by-side:
Between its charming packaging, sweet floral aroma, extra-hydrating and softening benefits, and natural-looking sheer color, it’s hard to imagine how anyone will be able to resist the Fresh Sugar Rosé Extreme Lip Treatment SPF 15!
The celebrities over at the Sundance Film Festival, which just wrapped on February 1st, certainly couldn’t wait to pamper their lips (and their skin in general) with some goodies they picked up at the Fresh booth — including the new lip treatment! Check out Manhattan Love Story star and former America’s Next Top Model contestant Analeigh Tipton getting her lips touched-up by a Fresh makeup artist and Lorenza Izzo, star of the upcoming film Knock Knock, picking up a few of her own favorite treats.
These ladies kept their lips paparazzi-ready throughout their time in snowy and chilly Park City, Utah — and it’s likely Fresh helped them accomplish this feat!
