Shortly after the Chrysler Building was erected in New York City, with its linear skyscraper silhouette and ornamental spire, replete with vaulted arches adorned with triangular shapes, Miami Beach area saw its own landscape change to accommodate its own Art Deco-inspired buildings and homes. As with all Art Deco structures, those built in Miami Beach featured ample geometric elements but they were also influenced by the tropical climate so that many boasted yellow, coral orange, and turquoise blue façades.
