Discussing Spring Footwear Trends on Telemundo’s “Buenos Dias Nueva York”

Yesterday morning, I had the immense pleasure of appearing on Telemundo NY’s 6-month old morning show “Buenos Días Nueva York” to discuss spring footwear trends and, of course, show off some styles every woman will likely covet. It was an absolute blast and even the hosts seemed smitten with some of the styles showcased, so I hope you readers will be just as excited about these picks! I’ve included a video of the entire segment above, but you can also check it out here.

In any case, here’s a breakdown of all the trends I discussed as well as close-up images and retailer information for the shoes showcased!

WEDGE SNEAKERS

We’ve been up on this trend for a while now (check out last July’s “Standing On The Wedge” feature) but it’s only picked up steam since then, with styles becoming more creative and price points ranging drastically to fit every woman’s budget. In this particular segment, I focused on two PUMA styles, both very sporty but also chic, as well as a dressier option form Modern Vice that includes a neon pink outsole, fringe along the side panel, and neon-colored studs.

Here are the various styles showcased:

PUMA Sky Wedge Chambray Wedge Sneakers, $100. Available at Shop.Puma.com

PUMA Mihara MY-66 Wedge Sneakers (shown in blue and orange in the above video), $120. Available at Shop.PUMA.com

Modern Vice Mickie Pink Sole Wedges, $250. Available at ModernVice.com

TRANSLUCENT HEELS AND SEE-THROUGH DETAILS

From clutches  to  strappy sandals, accessories this spring leave nothing to hide, literally incorporating see-through fabrics and materials like vinyl and lucite. We, of course, focused on sandals featuring see-through wedges, straps, or heels that give any ensemble a playful feel and also give an air of lightness — as if you were walking on air.

Via Spiga Biana Sandals, $198. Available at ViaSpiga.com

Nina Manuela Sandals, $99.95. Available at NinaShoes.com

COLOR-BLOCKED SHOES

The color-blocking trend we’ve been seeing in the apparel realm over the past several seasons has now trickled over to the accessories realm, with uppers incorporating multiple colors cleverly arranged to yield geometric patterns. I’m beyond infatuated with the BCBG and Vince Camuto numbers, so hopefully you will be too!

BCBGMAXAZRIA Runway Hex Color-Blocked Sandals, $325. Available at BCBG.com

Nina Shoes Shari Wedge Sandals, $175. Available at NinaShoes.com

Vince Camuto Adrien Sandals, $110. Available at VinceCamuto.com

MESH UPPERS

For an instant dose of sexiness, a footwear game of peek-a-boo, this season offers plenty of wedges, sandals and booties with mesh uppers that reveal a bit of skin while leaving something for the imagination. Check out the styles we discussed in the show:

BCBGMAXAZRIA Gamma Mesh Open Toe Booties, $275. Available at BCBG.com

Edmundo Castillo Chica Snakeskin & Mesh Wedge Sandals , $1095. Available at SaksFifthAvenue.com

TRIBAL MOTIFS

From ikat prints to woven raffia straps and Navajo-inspired stripe patterns, many of this season’s sandals seem to be inspired by tribal fashions. Here are two exemplary styles:

Christian Siriano for Payless Rachel Wedges, $29.95. Available at Payless stores and Payless.com

JustFab Grecia Sandals, $49. Available at JustFab.com

POINTY FLATS

After several seasons of flats having rounded or almond-shaped toes, designers opted for a more pronounced pointy toe this season. The Nine West shoes shown below not only speak to this trend, but they’re available in a perky coral pink shade that’s perfect for springtime.

Nine West Kilianna, $69. Available at Nine West stores and NineWest.com

ART DECO INFLUENCE

Not only are metallic colors hot, but Art Deco influences abound this season — and, in the realm of shoes, that’s manifested via gold-and-black color combinations, mirrored details, and diamond-shaped cut-outs. I chose one particular shoe that I felt really epitomized the trend, and it’s shown below.

BCBGMAXAZRIA Estie High-Heel  Sandals, $250. Available at BCBG.com
