Delicious-Smelling Digits Are Within Reach Thanks To The Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Super Hydrating Hand Cream

pacifica-indian-coconut-nectar-hand-creamAs a long-time fan of Pacifica and its delicious body butters, I’ve done a joyful shimmy whenever the California-based brand has announced a new launch. I was positively giddy when the brand expanded into cosmetics and facial care products, and the sentiment was only magnified when I tried the products — particularly the Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash (it’s now one of my favorites along with the L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Cleansing Foam, the Murad Pore Reform Daily Cleansing Foam, the Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser, the Simple Foaming Cleanser, the Korres Wild Rose Daily Brightening & Refining Buff Cleanser) and the Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day & Night Face Serum, which is lightweight and gentle. I was thrilled, then, when I discovered that Pacifica had expanded its array of products to include hand creams — all formulated to hydrate the delicate and oftentimes parched skin on our palms, fingers, and cuticles and mimicking the aromas of the brand’s most popular body butters.

Packaged in squeezable 2.25 oz. tubes with whimsical, Bohemian-flavored prints, each Pacifica Hand Cream is 100% vegan and made with natural ingredients. Currently, the hand creams are available in four scents: Tahitian Gardenia, a lush floral aroma that feels like Hawaii in a bottle; Malibu Lemon Blossom, a clean and zesty lemon scent that feels beachy and lively; Tuscan Blood Orange, a mouth savoring, juicy scent that’s slightly earthy and spicy; and Indian Coconut Nectar, a coconut-centered aroma with hints of creamy vanilla and a touch of nectarine for an unexpected, almost syrupy sweetness.

For weeks now, I’ve been using only the Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Super Hydrating Hand Cream ($9; available at PacificaPerfume.com) to moisturize my hands and, every time anyone is sitting near me when I do so, they feel compelled to comment on how delicious it smells. The hand cream, then, is just as fragrant as the body butter that preceded it and, more importantly, just as hydrating.

The hand cream is formulated with: shea butter, which is extremely moisturizing thanks to its fatty acid content and leaves skin soft and smooth; sweet almond oil, which soothes inflammations, delivers deep hydration, protects the skin from free radicals (mainly thanks to its vitamin E content), and works to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; safflower oil, which also softens the skin thanks to its linoleic acid content; coconut water, which hydrates the skin and which makes the skin appear more luminous; sweet iris extract, which boasts skin firming properties; grape seed oil, which contains the polyphenol known as resveratrol, a compound that protects skin from UVB and UVA rays and thereby can slow down the aging process and which can also stimulate collagen and elastin production; olive oil, which is rich in antioxidants that defend the skin from free radical damage; and kelp extract, which is known for its anti-aging benefits. These ingredients, then, are meant to moisturize, soften, and soothe the skin on the hands, while also preventing age spots, sun spots, wrinkles, and fine lines from emerging prematurely.

I love the consistency of this hand cream. When first squeezed out of its tube, it seems like it might be too dense but, once you massage it into the skin, it’s delightfully velvety without being too viscous. It’s absorbed with relative ease, leaving hands feeling soft and smooth (and smelling heavenly!).  I also appreciate the cooling sensation you experience when you first work the cream onto the skin — it’s like being splashed by a refreshing spray of ocean water!

Also, the tube is so adorable you’ll actually want to leave it on tabletops and desks for all to see,  and it’s compact enough to fit inside any clutch or makeup bag, winning it extra credit!
