Check out the La Perla Cage Vest Beyoncé Wore during her Opening Number at the 2014 Grammy Awards

Admit it: after you saw Beyoncé straddling that chair on stage at the 2013 Grammy Awards, leaning back ever so seductively then leaning forward again, crossing and uncrossing her legs ever so coyly before finally rising to greet Mr. Carter, you were as drunk in love with Bey as you were with her performance outfit. Fusing together tuxedo influences with dominatrix elements and infusing some stage-ready sparkle, Beyoncé’s performance outfit was a fashion weapon of seduction — down to the patterned tights. Rather than relying on metallic fabrics, glitter, feathers, and sequins, this look explored a darker, naughtier side — without, of course, veering into seedy territory (this is, after all, a song about feeling intoxicated by feelings of love and lust). The ensemble, then, consisted of a body-hugging, long-sleeved, sheer black button-down shirt worn over a bejeweled black bra, a pair of high-waisted briefs, and a cage-like bustier positioned over the blouse and skimming the torso.

The key piece in the ensemble was, of course, the vest since it gave the look a hint of S&M edge while keeping it looking glamorous. The piece in question is the La Perla ‘Cage’ Vest ($332, available at the Perla Boutique, located at 803 Madison Avenue in NYC; call 212.570.0050). The vest is part of the brand’s 2013 Cage Capsule collection, which also includes a strapless bra, briefs, and a high-waisted short (as shown above). All of the pieces in this collection, including the vest, were created using satin-covered rods to create the desired cage effect.

I personally love how the provocative vibe of the satin-covered rods is juxtaposed against the winged collar, which is meant to be a nod to traditional tuxedo shirts. And, while Bey chose to scrap the shorts for her Grammy performance, you can always wear them for your own chair dance inside the boudoir!
