It’s a fashion marriage made in an Anglophile heaven!
Ever marveled at the three-dimensional holograms displayed in films like Star Wars and Iron Man? Have you speculated about how the Enterprise’s transporter in Star Trek managed to convert people into energy patterns, then beamed them to different locations?
Yesterday was a crazy day, one filled with deadlines, press appointments, and parenting obligations.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Halloween — first, there’s the fact that I’m a scaredy cat (for me, watching a horror movie is akin to water torture); second, I always dread the slew of pranks that occur on Halloween evening (lawns being covered with toilet paper, cars and houses coated with smashed eggs, the firecrackers shoved into people’s mailboxes and so forth); and I really take issue with the number of absolutely scandalous costumes worn by tween and teen girls (the sexy kitty and sexy bunny ensembles have gotten out of control and now, of course, there’s the Miley- Cyrus- at-the-VMAs costumes that are soaring in popularity this year).
For Fall 2013, TOMS is in a military state of mind — well, at least when it comes to its choice of prints.
Time for a fashion reboot!
The fashions seen on the red carpet at the 2013 Emmy Awards were fascinating in that, despite some coincidental commonalities, there were no tedious themes — colors ranged from fiery reds to snowy whites and icy blues; silhouettes ranged from mermaid tale gowns to strapless column dresses; and even necklines varied dramatically, from deep Vs to demure halters.
Last night’s 2013 Emmy Awards was a bit of a snoozefest — there were the seemingly endless song-and-dance numbers (and, as someone who loathes musicals, these were enough to make me wince), the “upsets” that seemed designed to shock rather than to commend outstanding actors (Jeff Daniels over Bryan Cranston?
New York Fashion Week may seem really glamorous and fun to all those who haven’t experienced it but, for industry insiders, it’s a bit reminiscent of final exams season in college.
