When meeting with the NARS Cosmetics, butter LONDON, and Bumble and Bumble teams to discuss the various beauty elements for their Spring 2015 runway show, Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters brought up the notion of rough-and-tumble skater girls who are effortlessly cool and look beautiful even when sweaty and rocking disheveled hair.
Yesterday marked the official start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week here in New York City, and those staging the various runway shows or reporting on them are pretty much on mayhem mode (myself included).
Early this morning, I visited the Telemundo studios in New Jersey to discuss back-to-school fashion trends on “Primera Edición.” We had some adorable child models for the segment (shown in the second photo above) who smiled their little hearts out and charmed the camera every chance they got.
As you lovely readers know, I made an appearance on Telemundo NY last Friday to discuss swimsuit trends — and, in particular, the rising popularity of one-piece swimsuits (a huge relief for many of us who, after having children, never feel quite comfortable baring our midriffs — no matter how thin or toned we might be).
Last week, right before the Fourth of July weekend, I stopped by Telemundo’s “Primera Edición” to chat about the latest footwear trends — from flat espadrilles, knee-high gladiators, and flatform sandals to shoes with stylish cut-outs, tropical and floral prints, bright neon shades, color-blocked motifs, and tribal patterns.
Yesterday, I started out my birthday (which happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo) with an appearance on FOX’s “Good Day Baltimore” in which I discussed some Mother’s Day gift options ranging from celebrity scents to groundbreaking anti-aging treatments.
Remember the exaggerated, combed-back, über teased, wet-looking quiffs and pompadours sported by Danny Zuko and the Thunderbirds in Grease?
I’ve been starving to behold some truly innovative, exhilarating beauty looks during New York Fashion Week AW14 — and, after countless shows in which models wore no lipstick, only a touch of eyeliner, and sheer pink or beige nails, I finally got my wish with the cosmic-inspired makeup at the Rodarte AW14 show.
Typically, I emerge from New York Fashion Week feeling exhausted (the rest of schlepping from one show to the next for countless hours, in 20-degree weather, trying to look chic while avoiding patches of ice and piles of snow, then commuting back home to writer about what transpired and tend to everyday duties), frustrated (all the peacocking outside of Lincoln Center and all the nose-in-the-air attitudes at each show will grate on anyone’s nerves), and oddly inspired (despite all the headaches, there are usually at least a handful of shows that will elicit a positively emotional reaction and some beauty looks that will awaken your own inner artist).
