Happy Valentine’s Day, dolls!
Yesterday, we kicked off our Valentine’s Day coverage and, today, we’re keeping the momentum going as we move closer and closer to February.
While your love might not cost a thing (to paraphrase J.Lo), every girl enjoys a token of affection from time to time — however humble or extravagant it might be.
In May, Target unveiled a ground-breaking marketing initiative: The Shops at Target, a collaborative effort during which five independent boutiques — San Francisco’s The Candy Store, Miami’s The Webster clothing boutique, Boston’s quirky pet store Polka Dog Bakery, Aspen’s apothecary Cos Bar, and Connecticut’s housewares and home accent shop Privet House) —were tapped to create limited-edition collections of products consistent with each brand’s aesthetic but bearing lower price points for savvy bargain shoppers.
When you think of a wine tasting class or a club for wine aficionados, you probably imagine a group of uppity types in smoking jackets and ascots or corduroy coats an horn-rimmed glasses, all swirling their Merlots or Chardonnays, sniffing their wine, and sipping delicately before describing the flavor in as authoritative and condescending a manner as possible, taking any advantage to use terms like “legs,” “body,” “nose,” and “aftertaste.” If you enjoy a glass (or two or three) of vino but dread the notion of signing up for a tasting class, then you’ve likely wondered how you can expand your knowledge base and discover the types of wine that best suit your palate.
Legendary French poet, essayist, and playwright Victor Hugo once wrote, “A mother’s arms are made of tenderness, and children sleep soundly in them.”
This Mother’s Day try a little tenderness to celebrate the solace-providing women in your life — those who cradled you as a baby, bathed and fed you, chased away your childhood nightmares, kissed every boo-boo and nursed every cold, made sure you excelled in school, and instilled the values that transformed you into the strong, independent, beautiful entity you are today.
With Valentine’s Day inching closer and closer, we know you’re probably fretting about what to get your mom, kids, co-workers, friends, and mates — and, of course, you’re likely dropping not-so-subtle hints about what you’d like to receive from your guy (or girl) on the special day.
