In New York City, we’re bracing for the “blockbuster blizzard” the media has predicted will be blanketing much of the Northeastern with quite a few inches of snow.
I don’t even like seeing spots on the flesh of my favorite fruits (like bananas and mangos), so the idea of a speckled complexion makes me cringe.
Growing up in Puerto Rico, I spent many a childhood evening at my grandma’s house, watching the legendary TV personality Don Francisco on Sábado Gigante, a variety show that ran for five decades, finally coming to an end in September 2015, and clapping and singing along to the show’s unofficial theme song, a playfully naughty ditty, with the lyrics, “Así, Así, como mueve la colita” (which literally translates to, “Like this, like this, how you move your tail.”).
Now that it’s freezing cold in New York City (as in only a polar bear is comfortable outside), even the thought of wash-and-go hairstyles makes us shiver in fright.
Old Hollywood influenced many of the beauty looks seen on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, with Marilyn Monroe-esque waves, Sophia Loren-worthy cat eyes, and red lips reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor all making an appearance.
