“Comes with live hula dancers,” reads the large print in the advertisements for Mango Moonbreeze, the newest scent in the güd by Burt’s Bees family of haircare and skincare products — and, then, in smaller print comes the kicker, “By ‘live’ we mean completely imaginary.” The wink-wink quality of this advertisement embodies the spirit of he güd by Burt’s Bees brand, which seeks to make natural skincare and haircare more appealing to young, carefree, trend-setting, fun-loving types.
Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with the SheaMoisture team at the Walgreen’s in Union Square (located at 145th 4th Avenue, between 14th Street and 13th Street).
You’ve gotta love Sonia Kashuk — after all, while so many makeup artists are focusing on releases with flashy packaging and rare, exotic, buzzed-about ingredients that will justify their entry into high-end department stores and specialty boutiques (and, with said entry, steep price points that will place these products in the “aspirational” category for everyday women), Kashuk has been nurturing her long-time relationship with Target, expanding her range of top-notch and remarkably affordable cosmetics, and even delving into new territory by releasing her first-ever bath and body care line.
