An Epic Nut Case — Why You’ll Love The HASK Macadamia Oil Haircare Range

Hask-Macadamia-oil-haircare-rangeWhat if I told you that there’s a life-changing haircare line available— not at specialty retailers, select salons, or overpriced department stores, but  at drugstores all over the nation? What if I then added that all of the brand’s products retail for under $10? Would you think it a hoax? Well, ladies, allow me to make believers out of all you skeptics! Meet HASK, a brand of sulfate-, paraben-, gluten-, and phtalate-free hair care products formulated with natural botanical oils that have been treasured in localized communities all over the world for decades or even centuries. Four haircare lines, each addressing a specific concern or designed for a particular hair type, are currently available and each features a nutrient-rich oil as its headlining ingredient. The HASK Argan Oil range, for instance, is designed for women with frizzy hair and is intended to increase manageability. The HASK Keratin Protein range, meanwhile, caters to women with weak and sensitized strands, strengthening the hair shaft from the inside out. The HASK Monoi Oil range is designed for women with dull hair who need an infusion of volume and movement. And then there’s my favorite range, shown above, which is designed for gals with dry hair: the HASK Macadamia Oil collection.

The products in the HASK Macadamia Oil range come in humble and gimmick-free packaging but that’s likely because their formulas are so effective that no bells and whistles are necessary to make them fly off shelves. Good ol’ fashioned word-of-mouth will get the job done!

The HASK Macadamia Oil range contains a Moisturizing Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner ($5.99 each at CVS, Walmart, Ulta, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Sally Beauty stores), as well as a Moisturizing Shine Hair Oil ($2.49 at the aforementioned retailers) and Moisturizing Deep Conditioner ($2.49 at the aforementioned retailers).  All of these products contain oil extracted from the star member of the nut family: the  macadamia. With monounsaturated fats accounting for 70-80% of its composition, the macadamia is ideal for nourishing and moisturizing hair. Topping the list of monounsaturated fatty acids found in macadamia oil is oleic acid (it accounts for about 60% of the monounsaturated fatty acid content), which has excellent antioxidant properties, helps to improve circulation and hence stimulates hair growth within the scalp area, and easily traverses the hair cuticle and penetrates the hair shaft, healing strands from the inside out. The second most abundant monounsaturated oil found in macadamia oil is palmitoleic acid, an Omega 7 fatty acid that is vital for cellular support and regeneration, protecting cells from oxidation and stimulating turnover. Because of its low molecular weight, macadamia oil penetrates the hair fiber, re-depositing the essential fatty acids necessary for healthy, vital, smooth strands.

Macadamia oil also contains nearly five times the amount of vitamin E found in olive oil; boasts a high concentration of manganese, which provides free radical protection; and features flavonoids that promote hair growth and slow down collagen degradation. And, since it has a low molecular weight, this oil is easily absorbed, leaving no greasy residue behind — just smooth, soft, and shiny hair.

The HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Conditioner also contain jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, and keratin amino acids that moisturize strands and help repair the damage caused by bleaching, relaxing, perming, and dyeing strands. By the second time I cleansed my hair with these products, I was completely smitten. Not only did my hair feel silky soft, it had movement and volume. And it smelled delicious! These products are infused with a vanilla gourmand scent so that your tresses wind up smelling slightly earthy but still creamy and sensuous.

Since my hair is so dry (and I regularly dye it), I often finish off my hair cleansing routine by applying a few drops of the HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Shine Hair Oil to my damp strands. This extra concentrated, antioxidant-rich, reparative oil is so potent that one 18ml tube has been enough for me to use over 7 times (and this from someone with a lot of hair!). You can also smooth a drop or two of the oil onto dry strands when you need to boost shine or smooth frizzy ends and flyaways.

Once a week, I apply the HASK Macadamia Oil Hydrating Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment, which comes in a handy, single-serving pouch. This buttery rich hair mask should be applied to clean, damp hair, distributed evenly, and then allowed to penetrate strands for at least 10 minutes. To make it even more effective, try applying some heat to the treatment either by sitting under a dryer or even using a blow dryer. Once 10-15 minutes have elapsed, you can rinse off the deep conditioning treatment and enjoy your deliciously replenished mane.

Consider the HASK Macadamia Oil range of hair care products among the greatest hair-saving treasures you’ll find at your local drugstore!
