Airing Out Your Laundry

Inspired by the classic Vipp pedal bin designed by the company's founder, Holger Nielsen, back in 1939, the new Vipp 441 laundry basket pays homage to the company's roots while also delivering all the necessary functional elements for modern consumers. A perforted lid and bottom allow for good air circulation (which means your laundry won't get musty or moldy) and a dual-section inner bag allows for easy sorting (make sure to separate those whites, ladies). If you have to trek to a laundromat or go down a flight of stairs to reach a washing machine (I know, I hate lugging my dirty clothes through five or six blocks too!), you can just remove the inner laundy bag and tote it to your desired destination.

And, if you have a laundry room in your house (thank your lucky stars, ladies!), then you'll be pleased to discover that these Vipp laundry basket also boasts hidden rubber wheels, so you can roll your dirty clothes right to your washing machine (which means no need for ugly plastic sorting baskets, not to mention  a minimal amount of physical effort).

Available in black or white, the Vipp 411 laundry basket hits stores this month.

Vipp 411 laundry basket, $625. Available at design stores nationwide in January 2009.
