A Holiday Gift Guide For Chic Cinephiles: Part 2 — Gifts Inspired By Regina George of “Mean Girls”
Our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide features multiple installments featuring lovely giftables inspired by the most stylish women in TV and film. For Part 1, we focused on the impeccable style of the Supreme witch Fiona Goode; and now, for Part 2, we’re paying homage to the leader of The Plastics, the most exclusive clique in all of Northshore High School: Regina George. Sure, Regina is as conniving, calculating, and manipulative as they come, but we’re not extolling her personality traits here — just her fashion IQ, always impeccable skin and hair, and tastemaker status.

As Cady describes, “having lunch with The Plastics was like leaving the actual world and entering girl world, and girl world had a lot of rules.” Some of the commandments handed down by Regina George included: wearing pink on Wednesdays, only rocking jeans or track pants on Fridays, styling your hair in a ponytail only once a week, and not donning a tank top two days in a row. If any rules were violated, the offender wouldn’t be able to sit at The Plastics’ table in the cafeteria. These rules famously lead to a flustered Gretchen screaming at a sweatpants-wearing Regina, “You can’t sit with us!” As an homage to that memorable moment in the film, Alisa Michelle designed this necklace,which features a banner-like, 2″-long, 14kt gold-plated pendant with the phrase “You Can’t Sit With Us” etched atop it.

Chanel’s legendary creative director and head designer Karl Lagerfeld was once known for his ornate hand fans but, nowadays, you can typically find something else in the fashion icon’s hands: his pet cat Choupette, who Lagerfeld received as a gift from French male model Baptiste Giabiconi in December 2011. The always fashionable feline is the inspiration behind the new makeup collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and Shu Uemura, which includes irresistibly chic eyeshadow palettes and lip color trios in compacts with illustrations of the snowy white kitty. Even after Janice Ian snuck into the girls’ locker room and attacked Regina’s white tank top with a pair of scissors, Regina simply slipped into her tank, looked down to see her purple bra showing through the circular cut-outs that had inexplicably appeared while she was showering, and shrugged, strutting out of the locker room confidently, sashaying in her pointy black pumps and flouncy skirt. Soon enough, all the girls at Northshore High were purposely snipping away at their shirts to flaunt their bras. It just goes to show that with a hefty dose of confidence and some killer heels, like these 4.5″-tall ones from Steve Madden, you can own any look.
