What A Peach! — Make Bath Time Sweeter With New Pevonia BodyRenew Peach & Vanilla Collection
Forget tiramisu and soufflé — one of my favorite desserts involves simple and affordable ingredients and requires only the most fundamental tools and skills. Grilled peaches, drizzled with honey, then paired with classic vanilla bean ice cream, constitute a sweet treat that literally requires next to no effort or culinary skill. Sure, you can churn your own ice cream, but this little lady will be getting hers from the frozen food section! On a sensory level, there’s something enticing about the contrast of hot and cold in this dish, the warmth of the grilled peaches juxtaposed against the refreshing chill of the vanilla ice cream. In terms of flavor pairings, the juiciness, tanginess, and slight acidity of the yellow peaches harmonizes beautifully with the creaminess and sweetness of the vanilla ice cream. My mouth watered as visions of this simple dessert danced in my head when I first heard of Pevonia Natural Skincare‘s new BodyRenew Bathing Pleasures range, which includes relaxing and indulgent bath salts, bubble baths, and body moisturizers in three delightful scents: Jasmine & Lavender, Pineapple & Coconut, and… wait for it… Peach & Vanilla!
Each collection is designed to offer both aromatherapy and skincare benefits, to transform your bathroom into a spa-like sanctuary where you can decompress and enjoy a mood-lifting experience. The Peach & Vanilla collection, which I was lucky enough to try out, relies on the brightening and moisturizing powers of peach extract, along with the healing powers of vanilla fruit extract, a natural antiseptic that relieves dryness and inflammation, helps to heal wounds, and calms everything from psoriasis to eczema. Because peaches are rich in vitamin C, they help give the skin a radiance boost and stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration. Moreover, peaches contain vitamin A, vitamin K, beta carotene, magnesium, potassium and selenium, which protect the skin from free radicals — particularly UV rays.
The Pevonia BodyRenew Bathing Pleasures Peach & Vanilla Bath Salts ($10 at Pevonia.com) come in a handy pouch so that you can add 1-2 scoops to warm water for a relaxing soak. Sea salts help to neutralize the effects of pollution and stress, while the product’s powerhouse ingredient, Atoligomer, a sea water concentrate spray packed with 73 sea-derived minerals and trace elements, effectively strengthens and revitalizes the skin.
The Pevonia BodyRenew Bathing Pleasures Peach & Vanilla Bubble Bath ($18 at Pevonia.com), meanwhile, can be used to create a sudsy and relaxing bubble bath or as a light and refreshing shower gel. I love that it does double duty since, as a shower gel, I can use the product with much greater frequency. The formula contains peach and vanilla extracts, of course, as well as soothing chamomile extract; detoxifying sea salt; and passion flower extract, which has anti-inflammatory properties. I’m completely smitten with this product — literally my only gripe is that it doesn’t come with a pump applicator so, every time you want to use it as a shower gel, you need to unscrew the cap and gently tap a few drops onto your sponge or washcloth.
As a trio, however, the true pièce de résistance is the Pevonia BodyRenew Bathing Pleasures Peach & Vanilla Body Moisturizer ($22 at Pevonia.com), which smells good enough to eat (though, clearly, that wouldn’t be advisable!). This lightweight, non-greasy, fast-absorbing moisturizer contains peach and vanilla extracts, as well as: passion flower extract, which helps to tackle any redness or inflammation; vitamin E, which protects the skin against pollution and free radicals; chamomile extract, which soothes the skin; safflower seed oil, which has a 78% concentration of linoleic acid, a fatty acid that combines with the sebum in our skin to unclog pores and prevent acne flare-ups while also encouraging cellular regeneration and promoting brighter and more radiant skin; panthenol (otherwise known as vitamin B5), which softens the skin and improves its overall texture; and rosemary leaf extract, which has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
Some of the antioxidants and vitamins in the peach and vanilla extracts also make the moisturizer a keeper. For instance, peach extract contains lutein and zeaxanthin, antioxidants that reduce inflammation and help to heal skin lesions (cuts, scrapes, pimples, dry patches, bruises, and so on). Vanilla extract, meanwhile, contains vitamin B-12, which boosts the skin’s metabolism and is often used to treat everything from dryness to psoriasis, acne, and eczema. Studies also suggest that vitamin B-12 helps to regulate pigment production, preventing the formation of dark spots (hyperpigmentation) and keeping your skin vibrant and glowing.
All three products in the collection are stellar, but I’m particularly fond of the Body Moisturizer since it hydrates the skin without feeling heavy or cumbersome, and it really does impart a lovely glow upon my limbs. As for the scent, it’s delightful and lingers just long enough so that you can enjoy the sensory experience of massaging lotion onto your skin but still be able to wear your favorite perfume without creating aromatic chaos.
The products are free of harsh alcohols, parabens, mineral oils, SLS, formaldehyde, and artificial colors of fragrances, but Pevonia went way beyond ingredient lists to show its commitment to the environment. Each Pevonia BodyRenew Bathing Pleasures Bundle ($50 at Pevonia.com) features the three products in a given collection (Peach & Vanilla, Jasmine & Lavender, or Pineapple & Coconut), all packaged in a cinchable organza bag and adorned with a flower-shaped tag made of recycled paper and infused with wildflower seeds. By planting this seed-infused tag, then, you’ll literally be giving back to the Earth and contributing to making our planet greener — and that is absolutely peachy!
