Today, the much-anticipated live action version of Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast hits theaters, and those of us who grew up watching Belle twirling around in a floor-sweeping, off-the-shoulder yellow gown with a voluminous skirt, looking up adoringly at a now-gentler Beast as they danced a waltz on the palace’s ballroom dance floor, well, we’re excited. At least I am! I was just 12 years old when I watched the original animated film with my older brother, and I remember just how much I adored the music, the characters, the scenery, and the romance of the tale. Admittedly, I don’t know how comfortable I’ll be with the idea of Emma Watson swooning over a hulking creature with lion, bear, buffalo, boar, and wolf traits since, now that I’m an adult, I’m aware of of sexual depravity in which some folks engage. But I’m hoping I can really push all those ideas out of my mind and just remember the magic of the animated film, reverting to the wide-eyed innocence of my youth.

Like most Beauty and the Beast fans, I’m curious to see how the updated Mrs. Potts stands up to the original character, which was always among my favorites — likely due to her being voiced by Angela Lansbury, who I always thought of as a loving and doting grandma. Those who want to get into the Disney spirit, then, will brew up some enthusiasm for this Jet Set Candy “London is my Cup of Tea” Charm  in 14K Gold Vermeil ($128 at JetSetCandy.com), which features a dainty cup and scallop-edged saucer with a miniature spoon attached. Measuring 25 mm x 17 mm, this meticulously crafted charm will warm your heart more than any soothing cup of chamomile tea.

When you look at this tea, can’t you just imagine Mrs. Potts singing, “With dessert, she’ll want tea, and my dear, that’s fine with me / While the cups do their soft-shoeing I’ll be bubbling, I’ll be brewing”? Or maybe Chip asking Belle if she wanted to see a magic trick, then blowing bubbles playfully?

Whether you get nostalgic thinking about Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and Wardrobe or you just enjoy tea more than any Downton Abby character, you’ll likely find this darling charm sweeter than two lumps of sugar.
