Art Deco Elegance Inspired Emma Roberts’ Beauty Look At The 2015 Emmys
Emma Roberts‘ custom-made, pastel pink satin Jenny Packham gown hit all the right notes at the 2015 Emmys, the soft color and shimmering fabric highlighting the actresses’ peaches-and-cream complexion, the plunging neckline and pleated bodice adding just a touch of drama and sexiness to the otherwise classic silhouette, and the sun embellishment at the waist bringing attention to her tiny waistline. But what made the look come together, completing the entire glamorous picture, was the Old Hollywood feel of Roberts’ hair and makeup.
Inspired by the elegance of the Art Deco era, Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen created the soft and sultry look. She started by prepping Roberts’ skin with the Honest Beauty Everything Primer and illuminating her cheeks with the Hourglass Dim Light Ambient Lighting Powder, a miracle-working powder that gives the skin a soft-focus finish. To give her a soft smoky eye, Andersen used the Avon True Color Eye Shadow Quad in Berry Love, applying the light pink shade in the crease, the bronze shade on the lids and under the lower lash line, and the burgundy hue as an eyeliner, smudging it close to the upper lash line. For major lashes, she added several coats of the Avon SuperExtend Winged Out Mascara in Black. Lastly, to keep Roberts’ pout soft and understated without opting for a nude shade that might wash her out, Andersen chose the Avon True Color Indulgence Lip Color in Honey Flower, a light honeysuckle pink hue.
Roberts’ side-swept hair, meanwhile, was styled by Nikki Lee from Nine Zero One salon using UNITE hair styling products. To create the look, Lee started by prepping hair with the Unite 7 Seconds Leave-in Detangler, then spritzed the Unite Boosta Spray from the roots to the mid-lengths of strands to add volume. Next, massaging the Unite Blow and Set Lotion into ends, she blew out strands with a 2″ round brush, setting the hair with the 7 Seconds Glossing Dry Thermal Shine.
To create the curls, she gathered 2″ sections of hair and wrapped the hair downwards, securing each section in place with a duck bill clip. After all of the hair had been pinned, she spritzed a light mist of the Unite Max Control Spray and let the hair cool for 15 minutes. Once that time had elapsed, the began removing the pins and brushing the curls with a boar bristle brush to soften the waves. Once the desired old Hollywood waves had been created, Lee sprayed the Unite Session Max Spray so as to cover entire head and give the ‘do longevity and flexible hold.
