Hourglass Cosmetics Revamps Its Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss Collection — A New Look And One More Shade!
Back in March, I raved about Hourglass Cosmetics, beauty expert Carisa Janes’ range of cosmetics, which was landing in Sephora stores at that time (an enormous coup for any independent brand). I tested the Prodigy Hydrating Lip Gloss in Opium, an emollient and universally flattering rose copper shade. Though the shade was exquisite, I did find myself lusting after the more familiar lip gloss packaging, yearning for a slim tube with a built-in brush as opposed to a pocket-sized squeeze tube. Basically, I was yearning for what Hourglass finally delivered this season with the revamp if its best-selling range of Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Glosses — traditional packaging with an edge.
The updated collection now features elongated tubes that are slightly flatter and slimmer than your typical cylindrical options, making them all the more handy since they don’t roll around when you place them on a flat surface. A clear front panel bearing the Hourglass logo reveals the shade at the core of each tube and this panel is then framed by a moody bronze metal trim, which extends all the way along the back casing of the tube. A slanted rectangular cap adds to the sleek, sculptural effect, and a slight indentation at the very tip allows you to easily place your thumb on the cap and twist it until fully unscrewed. The applicator inside the tube, meanwhile, features a dainty brush tip that feels soft and tender on the lips. Since all the Extreme Sheen glosses are enriched with vitamin E and natural moisturizers like castor seed oil and vanillin (the primary component of vanilla bean extract), they keep your pout hydrated, filling in any lines and making your pout look smoother, healthier, and more luscious.
To celebrate the new and improved Extreme Sheen lip gloss range, Hourglass Cosmetics also introduced a new shade called “Child.” The color is an innocent, sheer nude with fleshy but peachy pink undertones. When you apply it on lips, it gives them a practically invisible flush of color, simply kicking up your pout’s natural pigmentation. The even vinyl-like sheen, meanwhile, makes your lips look dewy and gives a youthfulness to your entire visage.
