The Fine Print — Discover Mara Hoffman’s Exciting New Activewear Collection
Colorful, psychedelic, original prints informed by the natural landscapes of destinations across the globes, folklore and mythology, art and architecture, ancient symbolism, and mystical motifs abound in all of Mara Hoffman‘s collections. Some prints have paid tribute to medicine wheels , Turkish prayer rugs, the Mayan calendar, gypsy caravans, Mexican serapes and huipil garments, while others have celebrated the wonders of nature via palm tree motifs, zebra stripes, intertwined cobras, and hazy rays of light like those seen during sunset. Given the central role that prints play within Mara Hoffman’s aesthetic, then, it’s only fitting that these should also abound in her newly launched activewear collection, available now at MaraHoffman.com.
The expansive collection features a number of mix-and-match pieces in a variety of colors, prints, and lengths and all boast the performance features any athlete or fitness devotee would desire. Nylon and spandex bottoms and sports bras comprise the backbone of the collection, their fabrics boasting moisture-wicking properties and, most remarkably, containing SPF 50 protection for those who enjoy working up a sweat outdoors.
When looking for the right sports bra, women can choose between such options as the: Mara Hoffman Cross-Back Sports Bra ($128 at MaraHoffman.com), shown above in the second matching ensemble, which features slim spaghetti straps that criss-cross along the back, a slightly V-shaped neckline, and a cheeky cut-out along the back of the band, and which is available in either a black or turquoise “Skybird” print consisting of rows of psychedelic feathers; the Mara Hoffman Racerback Tank Top ($148 at MaraHoffman.com), shown in the third ensemble above, which features a high neckline a horizontal cutout along the back (located between the racerback and the band) and is available in both the aforementioned Skybird print, a blue or pale gray “eos” print reminiscent of Aztec medallions (like the one shown in the third outfit above), or a “Lightspeed” print, such as the one shown in the first ensemble above, which contains dots and ovals assembled into concentric triangular and pyramid shapes; a teenier Mesh Back Sports Bra ($118 at MaraHoffman.com) that hits right below the bustline and has a mesh detail along the back; and a solid-colored Cross-Back Sports Bra ($108 at MaraHoffman.com), which is similar in its silhouette to the criss-crossing printed bra shown above but features cut-outs along the front and back of the band and eschews prints for bold yellow, neon coral, or periwinkle blue.
Figure-hugging, muscle-compressing pants, meanwhile, are available in a variety of forms. There’s the Mara Hoffman Long Legging ($168 at MaraHoffman.com), as pictured in the “Lightspeed” print in the first ensemble above, a full-length pant with a wide waistband and an inner pockets hidden within the inside of the waistband; the Over the Foot Legging ($198 at MaraHoffman.com), shown above in the second ensemble in the turquoise “Skybird” print, which features a longer length so as to cover the heels of the foot and provide more grip during yoga sessions; and the Cropped Legging (at MaraHoffman.com), shown in the blue “eos” print in the third ensemble above, which also has a wide waistband but is considerably shorter than the aforementioned bottoms, hitting right below the knee; and the Mara Hoffman Short ($128 at MaraHoffman.com), which covers the upper thigh area and is ideal for hot and humid weather.
In addition to these skin-hugging garments, the collection incorporates more laid-back workout pieces like baggy sweatpants, French terry hooded rompers with front zipper closures, embroidered French terry capes, and sweatshirts with high-low hemlines. While devoid of prints, these more relaxed pieces do retain some intricate Boho chic embellishments such as feather embroideries, subtle color blocking, deep slits along the backs, and so forth.
Sure, many of these garments might prove intimidating for those scared of prints or bright hues, but those of us who believe in adding a splash of color to the world will be more than thrilled to add them to our fashion regimen.
