Best Dressed At The 2015 Golden Globe Awards — Find Out Who Made The List!

Like a “Fire and Ice”-themed ball at the Grayson Mansion (that’s a fancy estate in the Hamptons, for all of you who don’t watch Revenge), the red carpet at the Golden Globes featured tons of red and white gowns, with Hedi Klum, Allison Williams, Jane Fonda, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kate Mara, and Lena Dunham all opting for scarlet, crimson, and oxblood gowns and Kate Hudson, Amanda Peet, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey, and Emily Stone opting for ivory and pearl numbers. It was a triumphant evening for Latinos, which made the evening feel so much more rewarding for viewers like me — J.Lo stunned on the red carpet, Alejandro Gonzalez-Iñarritu scored an award for for his brilliant Birdman screenplay, and the adorable Gina Rodriguez was commended for her work in The CW’s Jane The Virgin. But back to style affairs, there was no shortage of glamour, pomp, or siren-like sultriness (there were plunging necklines, thigh-high slits, low-as-can-go backs, and cut-outs everywhere). Here were the ladies who made our jaws drop!

JENNIFER LOPEZ

A red carpet veteran, Jennifer Lopez never disappoints — if anything, she makes awards show history. Who can forget the belly button-baring, plunging, semi-sheer green Versace dress she wore to the 200 Grammy Awards? Or the long-sleeved, nude, Zuhair Murad dress with white floral embroidery she wore to the 2013 Golden Globes? Well, this year, J.Lo decided to make a lasting impression once more, yet again calling on Zhair Murad to help her create a memorable moment. To that end, La Lopez wore a dramatic champagne-colored gown with a plunging, funnel-shaped neckline that revealed her enviable cleavage, a thigh-high slit through which to show of her trademark “glow,” a built-in cape that flowed all the way down to the floor, kaftan-like arm holes, and strong shoulders to give the look an even more formidable presence. The piping details, meanwhile, help to elongate J.Lo’s silhouette and her naturally curvaceous figure.

I love how the shell perfectly skims J.Lo’s figure while the exterior seems to float around her ethereally, like the wispy cloud surrounding a genie. I also love how J.Lo chose minimalist nude strappy sandals but flashy, disco-worthy earrings, then completed the look with bedroom-worthy hair featuring plenty of height at the crown.

KATE HUDSON

On another girl, this white Versace number might look like an upscale stripper’s dream dress. And yet Kate Hudson somehow made it look glamorous and refined, sexy without being tawdry. It was a risky proposition to wear a dress this snug since there was no hope of a little assistance from every woman’s dearest friend, Spanx, and yet Hudson pulled it off gloriously. From the plunging neckline (the wide “V” shape reveals just the right amount of cleavage) to the side cut-outs and the chain strands embellishing these skin-baring panels, this dress is a bit Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch, a bit Jessica Rabbit, and completely glorious.

JULIA GOLDANI TELLES

This azure gown didn’t get nearly enough camera time — perhaps because the presenters hadn’t spent enough time watching Showtime’s The Affair (and tsk-tsk because it’s the best drama on television) — but the half Mexican and half Portuguese Goldani Telles was a stunner in a floor-length Carmen Marc Valvo gown with a full, ballroom-ready skirt, a banded waist, and a slim-fitting bodice with a slim center cut-out featuring a sheer underlay (for a trompe l’oeil effect that suggested more skin was being revealed that was, in fact, the case). The silhouette, color, and the shiny finish of the satin gown made her dazzle like the star she is.

JESSICA CHASTAIN

Sure, Jessica Chastain’s shimmering bronze Atelier Versace gown looks like it could’ve been plucked from the American Hustle wardrobe room (hey, the plunging neckline, halter silhouette, twisted waistline detail, and overall ’70s disco vibe all make it nearly identical to that of the gunmetal sequin dress Amy Adams wore in the David O. Russell film), but despite being a bit expected, it’s somehow still magical. Perhaps it’s the way the deep blackened bronze shade accentuates Chastain’s red hair or how the golden shimmer seems to dance under the lights, but there’s a fiery verve to this gown that makes it a knock-out.

ALLISON WILLIAMS

One of the few actresses to get the evening’s “lady in red” theme perfectly right, Girls star Allison Williams dazzles in a  strapless, ruby red, intricately beaded, Armani Privé gown featuring overlapping ribbons of airy tulle that create layer after layer of delicate ruffles for a  feminine and coquettish effect that exudes just a bit of flamenco cheekiness.
