What I Wore On Telemundo’s “Primera Edición” Segment On Technicolor Hair!

This morning, I stopped by Telemundo’s “Primera Edición” to chat about a fun beauty trend: rainbow-colored hair! While it’s been two years since we first started seeing celebrities dyeing their manes in non-traditional hair colors  — Katy Perry in a Smurf-ish cobalt blue, Nicki Minaj with her bubblegum pink weave, and Kelly Osborne with her now signature lavender-toned pixie cut — the trend is now far from being a fringe phenomenon. Just the opposite: everyone wants an atypical hair color! Nicole Richie went from a lavender hair color to a cobalt blue. Demi Lovato has spent years switching from hot pink to blue and teal, recently debuting a new hairstyle consisting of an asymmetrical bob with one of her head shaved and the ends of her strands dip-dyed an electric teal hue. And it’s not a celebrity-only trend — if you walk down the streets of New York, you’re bound to see a few pink, green, orange, and blue heads in the crowds.

I’ll be sharing the segment video and details on all the products featured shortly but, in the meantime, I wanted to give you the scoop on what I wore on TV!

As you can see in the pics above, I wore a  long-sleeved garnet-colored dress made of a slinky fabric with a silk-like finish. The dress features a plunging surplice neckline (I actually had to pin it in order for it to be TV-appropriate but, for a night out, you can show off way more décolletage), a defined waist line, a waist sash with fringed ends, and a draped skirt. The dress was part of the Joseph Altuzarra for Target collection that hit stores last month, and I was fortunate enough to pick up the piece before it was out of stock.

Since it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, I showed my support for the cause — and accessorized perfectly — with a statement necklace made by Holst + Lee for LOFT. Seventy percent of the proceeds from the sale of the limited edition necklace will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, so it’s truly philanthropic shopping at its best. Plus, the cause aside, the necklace is a showstopper.

Since the necklace contains earthy gray stones and smoky quartz-like crystals, I decided to wear a pair of linear drop earrings from Kendra Scott featuring square stones in similarly muted tones that create a gradated drop. I kept the rest of the jewelry simple, adding a Melanie Auld open bangle with pavé-set circles on each end, and a Virgins, Saints, and Angels ring with an etched cross at its center.

And, for a bit of drama, I accessorized my hair with a shimmering gold and copper Eugenia Kim turband and created a bold lip using the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte.

Last, I finished the look with a pair of black leather DV by Dolce Vita knee-high boots featuring pointy toes and golden hardware.
