Celia San Miguel Discusses Mother’s Day Gift Ideas On FOX’s “Good Day Baltimore”
Yesterday, I started out my birthday (which happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo) with an appearance on FOX’s “Good Day Baltimore” in which I discussed some Mother’s Day gift options ranging from celebrity scents to groundbreaking anti-aging treatments.
As you’ll see in the video above, the segment went rather well and, while I didn’t get to speak extensively about every single item showcased, I did get to discuss a few of the standouts. The host was simply fascinated with the technology fueling the IlluMask Anti-Aging Phototherapy Mask ($30 at retailers like Walmart and Walgreens), an at-home phototherapy treatment that involves a mask with built-in bulbs that emit red and infrared wavelength light for 15-minute intervals. As you’ll see in the video, the mask has an elastic along the back so it can fit securely and it has built-in eye “glasses” (really, they’re eye shields) so as to protect your peepers at all times. It comes with a remote control so you can press a button and start your treatment and, for added convenience, the lights will go off automatically once a 15-minute period is elapsed. The counter on the remote will then mark the number of treatments remaining (each mask offers 30 sessions of a 15-minute duration). The red and infrared lights work to battle aging by stimulating cellular turnover and collagen production, thereby making skin appear more luminous and helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
I also showcased the Sculpt Secret Facial Sculpting Serum ($69 at SoftSurroundings.com) and Sculpt Secret Body Contouring Serum ($79 at SoftSurroundings.com), both of which are formulated with the brand’s exclusive IsoSculpt complex which itself contains microalgae, a natural substance known to have powerful anti-aging and firming properties. To increase the efficacy of the serum, each product comes with an applicator equipped with Chromium CircuSpheres, rollerball-like metallic nubs that improve microcirculation and promote fluid drainage (which means all the puffiness attributed to fluid retention will decrease). The facial serum has the Chromium CircuSpheres built into its tip (as you”ll see in the video), whereas the body serum comes with a special glove (not shown), the surface of which is covered with the very same spheres. Both products work to tighten the skin, making legs appear more toned or better defining the jawline and cheekbones.
On the fragrance front, I showcased two scents designed by A-list stars: Halle Berry and Beyoncé. The romantic Exotic Jasmine by Halle Berry scent ($28 at Walmart) comes in a clear bottle with flowers embossed on its surface and the pink elixir features cedar and skin musk base notes that give a seductive feel to the jasmine note at its heart. The Beyoncé Rise perfume ($44 at Kohls), meanwhile, marries Bey’s favorite floral note, the orchid, with a golden apricot note and adds Italian bergamot and iced basil sorbet notes to give the aroma a freshness and a bit of zest.
Time elapsed before I got to elaborate on some of the other offerings, but I definitely advise you to check out a few of them: first, the Wyatt Cerulean Resin Box Clutch ($44.97 at Bluefly.com), an edgy accessory that will make any look pop and features a removable chain strap so that it can be worn as a cross-body bag or shoulder bag or carried in hand; and second, the Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Trio Collection Gift Set ($60 at Molton Brown stores and MoltonBrown.com), an absolutely delectable boxed gift set that contains a hand wash, hand lotion, and travel-sized hand treatment tube. All three items in the Molton Brown gift set contain rhubarb essence and rose extract to moisturize and soften hands, and they smell absolutely delectable thanks to a combination of these two scents, along with grapefruit, mandarin, and yuzu. The fragrance is very fruity but not overly citric or tart, and the floral nuances feel fresh and green rather than powdery or overly robust. Plus, the gorgeous pink box in which the products are placed even comes with a pink silk ribbon, so that you won’t have to spend a minute worrying about gift wrapping. Score!
