Since launching his eponymous costume jewelry collection in 2008, Atlanta-bred, Paris-based designer Eddie Borgo has managed to bewitch style hounds with sculptural pieces that boast a brazen, slightly rebellious rock-n-roll edge — all without losing any of their polish or sophistication. Aside from his runner-up finish in the prestigious 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund contest, Borgo has scored some major coups for a budding designer, creating pieces for fashion powerhouses like Marchesa, Jason Wu and Proenza Schouler. And now, he’s officially entered the designer holy grail: landing his collection in the retail pearly gates known as Bergdorf Goodman.

Borgo’s latest collection, now available at Bergdorf Goodman, features references to British punk icons, hardware, and even medieval armory. Offerings, then, include: gold-coated, cone-shaped stud earrings resembling glistening hi-hat plates (pictured below, after the jump); a matching necklace with sixteen gold-toned cone studs around its perimeter; gold-plated brass earrings in upside-down padlock shapes (shown at top) with elongated lobster claw clasps dangling from their bottom ridges for an edgier take on the locker room staple; and a 24-karat, yellow gold-plated brass chain link necklace with padlock charms dangling playfully along its length (shown above, last).

Our favorite piece, however, is the Hinged Plate Ring (shown above, second from top), which measures 1 3/4″ in length and features three hinged, armor-style plate pieces, each with a “U” shaped indentation along its top ridge. The placement of the hinged allows the ring to conform to the shape of your finger, encasing it without impairing or constricting its movement (as is often the case with two-finger rings and elongated knuckle pieces). With this hinged design, then, you can look tough without feeling castigated, as you’ll be able to freely twist, curl, and unfurl your armored finger. That’s what we call a winning style battle!
